Lie adjustment for wedges

I've played with custom-fit irons that are 2* flat for almost a decade. But my sand and lob wedges are stock standard lie. No good reason for this; I've just always bought them off the rack. I really need a new sand wedge. Shouldn't I special order it to my usual specs?

Get fit if possible just to be sure. I have 1 degree upright irons but use standard wedges. If I go flat like many say you “have” to I flare all my full shots out to the right. Shaft will make a huge difference as well of course.

I am not a fitter but have read a few places that wedges should be flatter than your irons.  This also depends on your miss as well.  In general if a club is too upright the miss will be left, and too flat the miss will be right.

No ones asked the important question of - how do you hit them?

 

Have you had issues with hitting them left?

 

Plus “standard” lies on wedges are often a bit flat so going 2 degrees may be more than that.

 

Either get fit or get them neutral, see the results and adjust from there.

I'd go this route as well. Plus 2 flat from one OEM might not be the same as 2 flat from another.

That's a great question. I don't have a problem with hitting them left, at least not according to my stats in Golf Pad. My biggest problem with them is chunking/thinning less-than-full shots.

You can have the adjusted if you don't like the way if they are performing.

do a lie test with a fitter if for nothing else peace of mind.

Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg Graphite Design XC 6S GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed

Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Type low medium offset cavity back, no diggers

Wedges - 56 and 60 tour grind wedge spinner and mcc4+ grip 2 flat 10 and 8 in bounce

Putter - Makefield VS LH

Ball - truvis

Carried in a Sun Mountain C-130 USA bag - BE PROUD.

HC - LH but 85 is a good number, playing in Ohio.

Oh yeah, that's absolutely deceleration due to lack of practice and my having the touch of an axe murderer. And with our little short game playground, there's really no excuse for it, other than that I'm not making the time I need to.

 

I'm in the market for new wedges because mine are so old and the grooves are wearing down.

All wedges are pretty easy to bend even though they are cast. It's a 5 minute adjustment.

Interesting topic as my new irons are 2 up and 1/2 longer in length.   Do you guys have your wedge length the same as your  irons?

OG, I just ordered my new wedge, and 2 more will follow. Same length as my 9 iron, same lie.

 

Interesting concept and looking forward to your take on the length thing.

I checked out JS' specs. PW-62 are all the same length. Tiger too I believe. I'm sure there are more.

How does that affect the normal yardage for say a 50 degree wedge? Does the extra shaft length affect overall carry?

Not sure...? A normal 50° is around 35.5” I think on average. My 9 iron is 36”, so a half inch. Maybe a yard or couple yards? The new 61° will be an inch longer, I mostly did that to lower the swing weight from D5, I like around D3, and if my calculations are correct it should be right around that. Might get 3-5 more yards there? Probably more spin. Launch will be slightly higher if what I read is true.

 

So in summary I doubt I'll see anything different.
