vanharca
How do these irons compare? I'm playing the MP-30s now and it may be time for an upgrade. I have been looking at the Srixon irons based on everything I've heard and am wondering which model is in line with what I'm currently playing. I've got some time on a launch monitor next weekend and will test a few models out, but the Z765s sure look nice. I also plan on trying out the Z565s, jpx 900 forged, AP3s and any other similar irons. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
Flipper554
Haven't tried the 765 so I can't comment there. The 565's made the short list very nice irons with good feel and distance the JPX 900 forged very nice as well numbers just weren't as good for me. The AP3's good looking club but just felt too harsh when compared to the other two. JAGolfore
I have a combo set of 565, 765 & 965. These are my favorite irons I have ever had. I was a Mizuno MP33/32 guy and also had the AP2's. JTexGolfer
LOVE my 765's! The turf interaction and feel of the Srixon's is second to none in my opinion. Like others have said the AP3's have a very harsh feel to me and I don't like the jacked lofts. 400 Driver (8*) UST ATTAS Punch 6S F6 Baffler (16*) Matrix Red Tie 65Q4 816 H1 Hybrid (21*,23*) Diamana S+ Blue 82 HY Z765 (5-PW) +2* Aerotech Steelfiber i110cw Vokey SM5 50.08F 54.10M Aerotech Steelfiber i110cw PM Grind 60* Dynamic Gold S400 TR 1966 Anser 2 Z Star ball Pioneer Cart Bag
vanharca
So my concern is that they may be too much club for me. I'm probably a 15 handicap or so, but lose most of my strokes around the green and inside 100 yards. I can hit the MP-30s fine which is why I'm looking for a side by side. The MPF says the z765s are actually easier to play, but I don't want to put too much weight in that. I'll get on the launch monitor and see how it goes. The Tour V.T. Sole interests me. lou mcconaughey
I played mp32's for years and now play combo 565-765 with recoil shafts and absolutely love them. I know I'm a club longer. Give them a good workout and hit some off of grass. I think you will be impressed and they are forgiving Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
e11iot15
I had a combo set of 745/945 with Nippon modus 120x and loved them. Would have never switched if I hadn't stole a set of ping i200/iblade with oban ct115 shafts. And some times still regret getting rid of them. I'd say you can't go wrong with either 765 or mizuno Jpx 900 forged.... definitely try them off grass and look at shafts seem to always make a difference Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
vanharca
I'll make sure to try them both off of grass which may be tough here in NY right now. Hopefully things will dry out a bit this week. For shafts the mizuno swing analyzer fit me to Project X 6.0. It looks like srixon offers a few more shafts than Mizuno. Any others with a lower launch I should look into? My MP-30s have Precision Rifle 5.5s and I hit the ball really high with them. Rtracymog
Try C-Tapers. Also the new LZ doesn't launch as high or spin as much for me as the regular PX. vanharca
Well I hit some clubs tonight and the 765s just didn't work for me. I hit the 900 forged again and they were pretty nice, but at the suggestion of the fitter I tried the MP18 SC. When I went in I didn't think I had a chance of being able to hit these, but they are fantastic. I tried a few shafts and ended up with the C Taper lites. I must say that I am surprised at how easy these are to hit and a bit disappointed that the srixons didn't work for me. Another question...what are the thoughts on the mp18 Mmc or flihi long irons? I'm thinking about one of these for the 4 and maybe 5 iron? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Don't have any firsthand experience, but I know Mizuno's intentions with the MP-18's was that people would mix and match (or at least they made it a lot easier). Fli-Hi's fit in well, as do the MMC's. I think both of those sets are stronger lofted though, so you'd want to work with a fitter to make sure you don't end up with yardage gaps. Dueller
Once I found the right shaft for me the Z765's were to clear winner from the MP18 SC's. As others have said, hit them off the grass if you can. I can't say enough good things on how good the turf interaction is with the Srixon's V sole.
