Thanks Guys, it's not easy to see yourself on video.  First time I watched it I was so busy complaining to my fiance about the 30 pounds the camera adds and how my voice doesn't sound anything like I think I sound....that I had to go back and re watch to actually focus on the content...LOL

 

Matt and I talked about I think either that day or during the round of golf on Sunday, how when we see our swings on video, it ends up being nothing like we think we look.   Not saying I thought my swing was text book, unless we're talking a text book, Charles Barkley wrote, but i had no idea it was a short and restricted as it is, I knew it was short, but that was eye opening. 

 

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it and gained something out of it.  Your right PIngApologist, the SFT gave me such great results, even over the Max which was already giving me what i thought were good results--for me.

Another informative video from TXG. Even if you don't fit the profile of the golfer in the video the information that Matt and Ian provide helps everyone understand the fitting process much better.

After the fairway video I swapped out a 3 wood with a older 5 wood that I had laying around the house and the results have been great so far.  The 5 wood does not go that much shorter off the tee and I can finally get the ball up in the air off the deck.  Ordered a Ping G 5 wood that can go from 16.5 to 18.5 so that should be in the sweet spot for distance off the tee and enough launch out of the fairway based on my swing speed.  Without the video I would still be searching for a more versatile 3 wood that does not exist.

TXG did a video about this concept a week or two ago, and Matt had very similar feelings about not a lot of players benefiting from the low loft on most fairway woods. He did mention though that players who tend to get very steep could have some benefit as well. 

 

The other point is that you generally want to arrange your clubs to fill in different lofts. If you have a 13 degree fairway that goes 250, and you can hit a 250+ drive, how often are you using that club?

That is me. I have played a 3 wood with at times as little loft as 12.75*

Great ball testing video up by the guys yesterday.   Playing ELIXR myself I wasn't surprised at all that it showed very well compared to the ProV

Oh and trust me, I don't think they are surprised. They actually buy every dozens of each ball on the market every year and put them through a very through testing to see how they are compared to the ProV.   Granted a lot of the results from the TXG ball testing, could be used by Titleist to support the claims of  superior performance, and they wouldn't be misleading.   But then it comes down to price.  Just like Matt said, for those that price is of no concern, they will load up on ProV's and be confident they are playing probably the best ball on the market.   Those that do take price into consideration, are most likely going to be making another choice.

While I agree with you about Srixon being a great ball, and one I played regularly as an alternate to the ProV before the Oncore.  However, it is no where near a challenger to the ProV even at the discount price.   That would be Chrome Soft and Taylormade  Bridgestone and Srixon are distant 4th and 5th in retail sales.  

 

edit: i was off between Bridgestone and Taylormade, but this takes into all models not just the tour model, so the well performing e6 probably is a large part of Bridgesgtone's share.  But you can see after Titleist and Callaway, it's basically eveyone else.

Actually I picked it over Srixon, ProV and Chrime Soft all of which I get a comp supply of each year.

 

And I have no deal with Oncore. I pay regular price.

 

For me I found it longer (by a few yards) than any of the others. But Z Star was very close.

 

It performed just as well around the green for me as the others as well.

Thanks. I've been playing the Srixon Z-stars for a few seasons because I cannot find a better value/performance. Best driver distance for me by a few yards plus great feel off irons and around the green. I keep hoping to test the Snell MTB Black, but then Srixon runs another sale that makes them even less expensive.

Special shout out to Rob on the Oncor being a part of the test, that's all down to you leaving us a sleeve during your visit. I also tried them when I played yesterday, seemed to perform quite nicely as far as I could tell.

I had never even heard of the Oncore before I watched the video. I currently play Pro V1's and just recently bought a box of TP5's. Would like to also try the Chrome Soft, Bridgestone and Srixon's before season is over. Never played Srixon but have heard good things and damn that $20 per dozen price is tough to beat.
