I'd love to go back down to Louisiana and play. Baton Rouge. Lake Charles or even Springfield had a nice course if I remember right. Plus the food and entertainment is a plus lol

Lake Charles now has 2 casinos side by side both with their own golf courses....some pretty good deals can be had too

I'd love to join in here if I can get myself sorted out in time- even if not it would be fun to come up and hang out with some fellow MGS'ers...

I know I'm late to this thread but...

Is there a way to get an interactive heat map of the US to see where the most MGS activity/members are located? I imagine east of the Mississippi is where most of the members are located.

Could MGS host a tournament? I know a lot goes into hosting a golf tournament, but with the right connections, you can make it work. I'd offer up my Adidas contact to provide shirts at cost. I know the last thing Adam, Sam, and that guy from the UK who keeps popping up on their videos want right now is to plan a tournament, but I'm sure some spies would step up to help out either with planning, player gifts, logistics, etc.

It could be a Civil War/Ryder Cup format for the tournament. North vs South.

Actually, the Norfolk, VA area isn't all that hard to reach for most of the country. Southwest airlines flies to Baltimore, DC, Richmond, Norfolk/Virginia Beach and Raleigh, NC. Amtrak will get you close to the Norfolk area. Carpooling with fellow spies would cut costs.

I'm sure if you planned an event a year out, it would give guys time to save/make appropriate plans to attend. If it's a success, the word of mouth on this site would turn it into a 'must attend' event.

For me it would be playing 36 in the day and just hanging out in the evening. A place you can grill outdoors, drink some beers, meet the staff and other members just to shoot the s***. Might be boring to others but I'm probably not going to catch a flight to demo clubs after a day of golf. I'd rather meet some members.

I agree with being able to play 36 and being able to have a more relaxed evening. Being able to to test and potentially win product is great, but that would be more of an added bonus. I think actually being able to meet members, staff and get some good golf in would be the highlight of the outing.

Different challenges before hand could be fun to. Closest to the pin, longest drive and some other fun challenges would be fun.

Pinehurst, hands down. So many options available, relatively central, and a place that most golfers would love to play. Good mix of “expensive “ and inexpensive options to play and stay, and just a great golf town

Have folks trickle in the afternoon before, have some sort of casual social gathering the night before along with the pairing assignments for the next day's 36. Early start, quick lunch, afternoon round. After the second round, a chance to win various MGS most wanted items. Everyone depart late evening/next morning.

Can't miss items:

Social event for all the spies.

Recognition of the main spies on this site (Tony, John, Adam, Chris, etc)

Maybe something simple to take home to commemorate the event (bag tag).

Option to purchase MGS apparel from the store.

Fun add-ons:

18 birdies app to setup a live leaderboard.

Get an Evnroll rep to do a demo session during the evening social prior to the event... Especially if the gathering is at course with a massive putting area like the punch bowl at bandon.

Bring out the most wanted samples for fellow spies to try out during the event (setup the most wanted drivers on a long drive hole or most wanted wedges on a short par 3).

Heck if y'all did the tournament near the MGS HQ, you could knock out a lot of your testing if you had people come in a day early/leave a day late.

Get ready for a weird nerdy request. Day 1, I would love like sit-down TED talks style things with members of the staff and perhaps some hitters from inside the golf industry, just to pick their brains and meet them, perhaps with a demo component. Plus a social networking event in the evening. Day 2-3 Two rounds of golf with your new buddies

I would be good with an 18 or 36 hole outing - the more the better, but I would also think it would be a blast to have a few hours of demo time on the range to test whatever we feel like - irons, woods, wedges. I think it would also be awesome to have a few instructors available on the range or course to assist with those that feel like they want some instruction. A BBQ setting to just hang out and shoot the breeze would be more fun to me than fixed seating in a restaurant.

Much of this might be "pie-in-the-sky", but hey, you asked!

This is a really cool question. I'd like the opportunity to do some demoing of the most wanted. Especially putters and some of the new irons. (Mizuno please) and I think itd be fun to scramble for 18 holes. I think it'd be a cool way to get to know the guys.

Other notables would be meeting the staff and maybe, If possible getting some fitting vans to come out for some of the more popular brands on the forum like Ping, Mizuno and Cobra. I'm not even sure if that last ones possible but it'd be a really cool feature to add to the event.

Of course some MGS swag would be nice and maybe some prizes to win as well.

I'd come to that in a heartbeat.

Rob, I'd bet you'll have better luck than I did. You being a special Staff member dude and all. LOL

I tried several years ago and even presented to X I believe; my ideas for a nationwide Tournament series culminating in a Championship. It was probably as little too much to swallow at the time. But I tried. Now on to your idea...

I'd probably make it centrally located in the center'ish of the country somewhere but close to a large airport. You'd have to provide a package deal I think excluding airfare/transportation.

Make it a 3.. round event. Make it stroke play event (no freaking scrambles, shambles, etc . please). Flight by GHIN handicaps. Seniors Flight? Offer two or more courses for a daily rotation. Play for a Medal or trophy in each flight. 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Have an awards banquette after final round.

As far as course venue? Not sure... but I'd lean towards a RTJ Trail type of place perhaps. Affordable green fees, great courses, etc. I don't think many want to spend $200-250 for a few rounds of golf. In other words no resort courses. Just very good, affordable, and playable courses. You'll be hosting a wide variety of players and skill levels. Nobody wants to play a man-eater.

Personally, I'm not interested in club testing-demo'ing, fitting, long drive contests, skills game challenges, putting contests, etc. Maybe MGS would like to offer some equipment give away items. That's fine. What about a hole in one opportunity. No cash payouts what so ever!!! Go very light on any entertainment if any at all. It's a waste of money.

I summation - make it a Golf Tournament. Pure golf and real simple.

Best of Luck

While I love Pinehurst. The question isnt meant to solicit location.

But regardless of location what would you like to see from an event standpoint that would make you say. This sounds off the charts.

Get a current touring pro to attend, participate in the golf and evening activities. He could play with a group or if enough people attend he could stay at one hole and groups could try to beat him on the hole. Beat the pro get some swag, lose to the pro donate $10 to MGS. Cash on the spot.

Was responding to the Original post, hadn't read through the entire thread. Would be cool to do a “mini tour” like event. 2-3 days. 1st day QA, demos, “pro am” practice round with the pros being MGS staffers, getting the TXG guys out, fitters from some of the other big names, club champion and the like. Day 2, tournament round, flighted with a cut. Day 3, “final round” for the championship, with those who missed the “cut “ playing a scramble or something. Final day BBQ, reception/awards.

Rob.

I'm all for resort courses with big greens fees. No trophies, no flights - just a big ass scramble. With plenty of loud music on the course and chock full of entitled millennials.

^^^ this! But we need a 'safe space' for MBP because people are gonna comment on his white OB stakes he calls legs.

I'd rather it just be 36 holes of fun golf meeting new guys. Rotate it on a 9 hole basis of who you play with as a 4 some. Have a good beer and cigar selection at the end of the day to hang out and socialize. You could do something like a closet to the hole with one of the most wanted irons so you could do this on a few different holes to allow people to hit a few other of the most wanted clubs.

Good suggestion about the most wanted clubs.

At the Team Titleist event at Sawgrass last year. They had the new 718 lineup on hole 17. We were playing a 2 man format and you hit your team shots.

Then you could hit one of the 718 line if you wanted from the Sunday tournament tees.

For me,  I am mostly interested in meeting people that I converse with on MGS.  Maybe dinner the evening before with a drawing for pairings.   Some swag for closest to pin would be a bonus.   I have already tried all the most wanted equipment so that isn't all that appealing to me.

For me, I am mostly interested in meeting people that I converse with on MGS. Maybe dinner the evening before with a drawing for pairings. Some swag for closest to pin would be a bonus. I have already tried all the most wanted equipment so that isn't all that appealing to me.

Ha. On the Most Wanted testing.

Rob.

I'm all for resort courses with big greens fees. No trophies, no flights - just a big ass scramble. With plenty of loud music on the course and chock full of entitled millennials.

And some place with a great night life so we can take the party off the course!

Having planned many Buddy Trips for as many as 24 players, both male And female golfers, I would suggest a place like World Woods in Florida where they have two top 100 courses plus very adequate practice areas. The only thing do not have is adequate housing and close proximity to an airport. Another could be Orange Count6 National in Orlando.

Things I would like to see:

- some Vendors with products

- MGS swag.....shirts, caps, etc.

- MGS Directors in attendance

- Golf, Handicap tourney

- Golf Scramble

- Adam in attendance

- Good food, Good drinks, Good Friends
