TR1PTIK
I've searched tirelessly for the same thing. The only thing I've found so far is How to Make a Yardage Book by Eric Jones and Dick Barry. I can't remember what the cost was, but you can download it for Kindle along with the Power Point template. It's honestly not that good and suggests that golfers use Google Maps screenshots to build a yardage book. If there is anything worthwhile out there I'd be glad to know about it as well, but experience tells me you aren't likely to find anything. DPattGolf
I would highly suggest using graph paper or at least overlaying a grid onto the green area. I have found that incredibly helpful because I can consistently more accurate yardages since each side of the squares in the grid will equal a constant yardage value. So even when I can't use a rangefinder I can still get accurate yardages for things like how far it is to cover a bunker. The grids also make it easier for me to draw in the sloping of greens. Amy suggestions are welcome Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk I made my own yardage book a few years ago, using a computer drafting application I have for work. I essentially traced the sattelite photos, scaled the tracing to the appropriate dimensions, and then pulled distances from visible landmarks. The slopes I did freehand. It was a PITA, but came out pretty useful. PlaidJacket
We've all discussed this before but.... I did a quick Google search and find a ton of this stuff. However I want a fist class book so...I'm thinking about having Dave make one for me. Maybe in exchange for an Olive Garden gift card or something. DaveP043
If I had known how much time it would take me, I'd have thought twice....and still done it. It was fun, but to get all of the contours right took a lot of hours, even though its my home club and I know the course really well. Now if someone wants to arrange on-course time, airfare, lodging.....well, now I understand why it costs so much to set these up. Rtracymog
I like the idea of making one of these and I went to this website (https://zimventures.com/projects/golf-yardage-books/) and it's been giving me a pretty good run down so far on how to set one up. Kanoito
Stupid question... when you play a course, don't they provide a birdie book? In Germany about 99% of the courses have it mapped out for you. PlaidJacket
Not a stupid question. I've been around a lot of courses and have yet to find one that "provides" a yardage book. But maybe I missed one that does. Many courses do however have one you can buy. Even my home course has them for sale. But I've never bought one of them. I have one right here on my desk that I bought last year at the Masters. It's not very detailed but the photos of each hole sure are nice. Bryndom
I use a garmin watch and a yardage book. I've found that GPS on my phone isn't bright enough for me to see. The Garmin watch gives me a good yardage to the center of the green, and the yardage book gives me yardage to hazards, back of green, front of green (with simple math). I've been making yardage books for courses around here as its "face melting" hot outside...a good off season activity to do. The real difficult part is finding a source of information for green data (I like knowing the slope of the green, not Stackaline detail, but general run out) for approach shots.
