pulledabill
Day 6 of no smoking. Struggled with it off and on for years but pack a day for last 4 years since mom passed. Had a longish term relationshop go south and end 4 months ago and went to pack and a half. Put on 20 pounds the last 4 months, increased smoking, and Rockstars daily, I could really feel the change to my health...and not for the good! Three weeks in to no Rockstars , 6 days no smoking, and 10 or so days counting every calorie that goes in to me. Down 7 lbs in 10 days and hppe to have 30 off by June 1st. Easy to drop 20 in a month, but then it gets hard. I was spending at least 60 a month on Rockstars, at least 200 on smokes, 100 month on crap for food, and whatever I bought at the market along with my smokes and it was getting out of control. I can already feel the difference without the smokes. Get more sleep as I get up half hour later as I was smoking 2 or 3 with my morning coffee before I even hit the shower before work. I can see the difference in my heart rate as I wear a fitness watch. Playing Chambers Bay next month and Im not sure how that would go as a smoker. Been putting the hurt on the gum thats for sure. Jmikecpa
Good for you. I never smoked a cigarette until I was 22 and then became a smoker. Quit when I was 28 and stayed off them until I was 35. I smoked on and off for a few years and then quit about 3 years ago and have not touched one since then. Both my parents were very heavy smokers and I lost my Dad to cancer in 2013. His biggest regret was the day he picked up his first smoke. Stay strong and stay healthy. ole gray
Hang in there buddy! It's a tough battle however you will feel sooooooooo much better. I quit smoking in my late twenties. The problem was I did not quit nicotine as I starting chewing tobacco instead. I starting chewing to help me quit smoking and then I was hooked on the chew tobacco. I had to use nicorette gum to help wean me off the pouch tobacco. Not only will you save a ton of money however you will (over the next few months) start to feel much better health wise. If possible join a gym and start working out and you will really begin to feel like a new person. Good luck buddy and keep the faith that you can do this! MaxEntropy
The dad of my wife's best friend growing up in Spokane is the one who designed the Washington State cougar logo. He sold it to WSU for $1.That's a cool story, although $1 makes it a steal. I think it's a great logo. I grew in SW Washington. My friends and I always practiced drawing the logo in high school in case we went there. I ended up going to Gonzaga, but I'm pretty sure I could still draw the logo decently from memory. Edit: I just realized the original post I made was nonsense thanks to auto correct. Don't want to derail from OP's accomplishment more than I already have, though. garethw
Keep it going you'll really notice the difference in your health. I quit on the 30th July 2016 after a friend recommended I read Allan Carr's "Easy way to stop Smoking". I'd tried in the past and always went back to them. I had no intention of quitting and only read it to prove him wrong. I've never picked a cigarette up since finishing that book, and now I'm the worst kind of anti smoker. I really didn't realise how much it smells both in the air and on your clothes. MattF
Good for you, I hope you stick with it. I too stopped smoking (4 years ago) but I used a vapor...still do as the nicotine still has a hold on me. BUT, using the vapor my blood pressure has finally come down to the point where my doctor took me off blood pressure medication that I had been taking since I was 18 (turned 47 last month). Now the trick is to get my wife to quit. I've gotten her everything she's asked for to help but I can't supply the will. djahubes
I fight the nicotine battle daily. Was able to kick smoking, but smoke a cigar here and there, and dip regularly when on the course. Cigarettes are the worst. Even now after 10 years I still get the itch. Keep fighting, it definitely gets easier. The rockstars are probably worse. robertson153
I started smoking at 15, seems young but I'm from KY so that's the norm around here. Kicked that at 18 but used dip to quit and have been doing that ever sense. Someday I'm sure I'll want to quit but as of now I really really enjoy it.
