Callaway Optifit Hosel Adapter thread problem

I recently purchased a Project X Even Flow Black driver shaft online through Amazon after deciding to go with the shaft. The shaft arrived today, and when I went to put the shaft on the Callaway Rogue SZ driver, the threads would only engage half way into the hosel adapter. I'm in contact with the seller, Dallas Golf Company, to see what can be done.

 

Has anyone had any problems with the Optifit adapter sleeve on any Callaway products or aftermarket shafts?

Here's a couple of pics of the hosel adapter. On the left is the Callaway hosel adapter from an Epic SZ 3 wood, on the right is the new Even Flow shaft. shaft

Those don't look close to being the same. The left has a different profile, even appears to be a little larger diameter. The threads don't start until fairly deep in the Epic adapter. They're very shallow on the new adapter.

Definitely looks like an aftermarket adapter. They come in varying shades of quality for sure. I got a bad Cobra adapter a few years back. Hope they make it right for you.

How's the length and diameter of the actual screw? As MGoBlue100 noted the threads start deeper, but that may be a difference with the driver versus fairway adapter. My OEM cobra adapter has threads that start deeper versus the aftermarket adapter I picked up for a shaft testing.

The profiles on them are the same, I checked a bunch of times with them laying down. I think the camera angle makes them appear slightly different, but yes the threads do start deeper on every other adapter I have (two FW and a driver adapter). They didn't send a separate screw with it, so it's the screw from the Rogue head. I also compared the adapter from the stock hzrdus shaf that I ordered the driver with, and the adapter from Callaway on the HZRDUS shaft is the same as the one on the left in the pucture from the FW adapter. I think it's a matter of being an aftermarket adapter.

 

The company is sending me a new adapter, a new screw, and crediting me 20 bucks to cover install cost at my local shop. Everything should work out, just not as smooth of a transaction as I'd like.

At least they are taking care of a new adapter and install, that's about $50 retail it's costing them.

Question, what do you do with all your extra shafts??

I currently have no plan or idea of what to do with the extra shafts. The extra shafts are from some recent tinkering. I have a KK Tini 60 from an M1, a non-handcrafted HZRDUS Yellow 75g FW with a Callaway adapter, and now a hand crafted HZRDUS Yellow 75g driver shaft with a Callaway adapter.
