2018 March MyGolfSpy Madness

Recommended Posts

I honestly know nothing about basketball... but I'm in. Florida better pull this thing off! (Don't laugh at me if that's a terrible pick.)

I'll hop in this evening. For some reason I can't login to it right now. Thanks for putting it together!

Did you check the box "eligible to join"?

It was something with my internet connection at work. I'm in now.

I'm a big fan of March Madness.

I never seem to pick well in these bracket games, but I always enjoy the challenge.

My issue was one of those darn loose nuts on the keyboard. I hate it when that happens. Good luck, y'all.

love this....huge college hoops fan. fav team is Duke but I don't see them making it all the way this year ... too many dumb mistakes.

there really aren't many better Th-Su events than March Madness. it never ever fails to impress. I suppose I'm not impartial since I've been playing hoops since I was 7 but the emotions these kids go through is incredible....sometimes you forget they're just kids.

This song does it for me every time...Now if I can only pull off my One Shining Moment!!

I'm in! I had to go back and change my bracket a bit with the happening at UVA. Maybe it won't hurt them, but I did adjust how far they'll go in my brackets.

I watch very little basketball other than Tennessee, so I'll probably come close to last place, but I'm in anyway. Maybe I'll get lucky.

So you now have them losing to UMBC in round 1?  I can get behind that  :D

My bracket is complete, until about 4;30 on Thursday, at which point it'll be ripped to shreds!

I'll say this about March Madness.... if I had only one sporting event that I could participate in during my lifetime - SuperBowl, World Series, NBA finals, Masters/US Open/Open Championship, etc. - there is no doubt in my mind that I'd pick being on a NCAA championship winning basketball team.... the camaraderie, the passion, the emotional roller coaster, the ecstasy....

As long as Duke doesn't win, I'm fine with not winning the contest :)

Booo.... I bet you have a "I still hate Christian Laettner" t shirt.  :)

They are the 3rd favorite behind UVA and Nova right now... but I don't see it happening this year unless they can hit the outside shots.  Marvin Bagley is fun to watch though - that kid is amazing.

      It's that time of the year again! Who's ready for some fantasy football?!

      This is your Official 2019 MGS Fantasy Football League Thread. Let me or @GolfSpy STUDque know if you are interested in playing this season as the league generally fills up fast. Please only apply if you plan on keeping up with your team the whole season! It is no fun when people throw in the towel after the first few weeks go poorly and THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK INTO FUTURE LEAGUES. We have some teams from last year's league that won't be permitted into this year's league, for this very reason.
      With that said, prior year's league members who participated all season long will have priority to joining this league.

      The League will be run again on Fantrax which was gracious enough to waive their fee for a split division league. They have been working hard to fix the bugs that they had last year and are continuing to make improvements to the site, as well as, the app. Fantrax is our best bet for such a large league with split divisions. Last year the league was 28 teams strong it was much easier to run it all through Fantrax, than it was in the past with two separate leagues on ESPN.

      What are we playing for you might ask?! Well pride of course.
      That and what we can call The Golden Ticket! Which is the ability to test and review anything you like in the following year. Who wants some shiny new toys?!

      Alrighty, let's open up the floor for questions. Please DM me and Co-Commish @GolfSpy STUDque with your email address if you would participate in this year's league!
      Please follow this thread as there will be more info to come in the coming weeks.

      The results of the My Golf Ball ball study generated a lot of discussion and also questions as a result.  If one of those questions you had is, which model of Srixon ball will work best for me, the Z Star or the Z Star XV, then we may the answer for you.
      Four of our members were sent a dozen of each, and will be putting them in play on the course and putting green over the next 4  to 5 weeks to see which one works best for them.  They will report in regularly along the way with results form both.  So feel free to chime in with questions and read both their stage reviews to get their full thoughts.

      Our Four Testers Are:
      @Reesedw               Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @pulledabill             Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @ChasingScratch    Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @golfertrb                Stage 1                 Stage 2

      With JB Holmes highlighting it, Srixon had a big day on Sunday with 3 worldwide wins.  Here's the Srixon Equipment for each of them.   Note they all had the new Srixon Z-Star ball in play.
      J.B. Holmes – PGA TOUR – Genesis Open – Pacific Palisades, CA (5th PGATOUR win)
      What’s in J.B.’s Bag:
      ·       Srixon Z U85 Utility Iron (20º)
      o   Alternates this utility with an 18º depending on the course setup.
      ·       Srixon Z 785 Irons (4-PW)
      ·       Cleveland RTX 4 (50º MID, 54º MID, 60º LOW)
      ·       Srixon Z-STAR XV
      o   On a day that got more and more difficult as the wind wreaked havoc on players ability to control their distances, J.B. leaned on the stability and consistency of his Z-STAR XV and hit the shots he needed to coming down the stretch.

      Ryan Fox – European Tour – ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth – Perth, Australia. (1st European Tour win)
      What’s in Ryan’s Bag:
      ·       Srixon Z 785 Driver (10.5º)
      o   Known as one of the longest player on the European Tour, this was just Ryan’s second week of competition with the new Z 785 driver.
      ·       Srixon Z U85 Utility Iron (20º)
      ·       Srixon Z 785 Irons (4-PW)
      ·       Cleveland RTX 4 (50º MID, 54º MID, 60º MID)
      ·       Srixon Z-STAR XV

      Miguel Angel-Jimenez – Champions Tour – Chubb Classic – Naples, Florida (7th Champions Tour win)
      What’s in Miguel’s Bag:
      ·       Srixon Z-STAR
