2018 March MyGolfSpy Madness

Recommended Posts

Arizona hurts the bracket! Oh well. I always cheer for the upset in the first round, except for games against my schools I went to. Honestly, I couldn't care less about my bracket.... I'd rather a 16 beat a 1, a 15 beat a 2, etc. Much more fun!!!

So happy about AZ losing. Didn't have that pick, but #nopittyforthekitty

So much for basketball at UofA. My Sun Devils stank up the court at the end of the season, but at least we will have a program next year :P

I would like to note that Upstate NY took the Pac 12 out behind the woodshed in this tournament and put them down. Now for SU to get back at slick haired Jamie Dixon and TCU this evening.

Tell that to the kids at Loyola-Chicago who nobody gave a chance against Miami...

I took Loyola-Chicago to beat Miami. I think the damned Arizona loss is my only blemish. So far that is...

The South kiilled me yesterday.  I was 12/16 and 3 of the misses were in the South Region.

UMBC over Va is like Linx taking over the #1 driver sales or usage.

Well my Alma Mater (Wright State) waited 10 years ti get back into the tourney only to put up a dud today. Ih well they have 3 great freshman who look ready to carry the load the next 3 years.

Hopefully UMBC one of tbe local teams i Covered all year shows a bit better tomorrow night vs Virginia.

I like the MId-Majors if you haven't noticed.

Slipped into a T17 with a solid game by FSU. My only mistake: I have Villanova losing in the Round of 32. Like I said, I know nothing about basketball...

Wa-HOOOOOO! (Get it?!)

I purposely didn't stay-up to watch the 2nd 1/2 of the UVA (Wahoos) vs UMBC because I KNEW it wouldn't happen.... But, it DID!!! It's 4am and I'm stunned! This is AWESOME!!! Like I said, who cares about a bracket, this is what makes the Tournament a MILLION TIMES better than college football!!!!

Go Retrievers!!! (1/2 of my dog is stoked... She's a Goldendoodle!)

Peaksy and I still have 1580 and 1560 points possible left, respectively. The two highest amounts left in the whole deal! Looking good!!!

Ha. Clark Kellogg mentioned people that probably did just that, "no need to watch this late game 1 vs 16, it'll be a blowout ". Lol it was.

I feel the same way about the bracket. And for it to be a team that i saw play twice a week. Ive spent a good amount of time talking to Ryan Odom, Lyles, Maura and Grant this year and i can tell you they are just plain great young men.

Ive seen them overcome a few 2nd half deficits by being as tough as nails. And it's a cliche, but they have so much heart and grit. They never get dowm on themselves.

On my weekly segment with s local radio station this week, i stopped short of saying they would win. But i honestly did say "some year, a 16 is going to beat a 1. So UMBC is no doubt saying 'Why not us?'"

Nights like last night are why i love college basketball and in particular MId-Major hoops.

(actually super happy that a 16 beat a 1, just wish it was Xavier instead...)

Today is the day my bracket falls apart. It is going to get busted too, unless a 6-seed can overtake a 3-seed.

So if all our brackets get busted together, then are they really busted?

Mine was in awful shape when Arizona lost but I now have new life since UVA went down too. Based on what I've been seeing on SportsCenter all year, the bracket was destined for this many upsets....it's just so darned difficult to pick which ones.

I saw a fun snippet on Twitter this morning: out of ESPN's 1.73 million brackets, there's exactly one that got EVERY PICK WRONG in the first round. That's practically Hall of Fame worthy. One of the funniest comments was "they were reckless enough to pick Penn over Kansas but still had Arizona winning"

It's over for me if Alabama loses this one. Come on 9-seed — it's been done before!

      Almost a total remodel of the bag.

       Epic Flash SZ 10.5 set at -1 N Graphite Design Tour AD TSG Blue X (45")
      M3 15 set at -2 Paderson Fairway KG 860-F30 S
      Epic Flash SZ 18 set at S N Tensei AV Blue 70 X

       Glide Forged 60 KBS Hi Rev 2.0
       SS 28 CS 33"

      Driver: Thank you MGS, flat out the best driver I have ever had in the bag.
      3W: A random purchase after being unable to hit the original epic 3w. Put same shaft that I was fit for in the epic and it has been a match made in heaven. Absolute money from the tee and I know exactly what it will do from the fairway. Combined with the driver there are not many par 5's that I can't reach.
      5W: Solid club but this spot has always been a trouble spot in my bag and that hasn't changed in 20 years.
      Irons: Love the combo and they feel absolutely amazing. All of them are 1* strong, standard lie and +1/2" Biggest thing I was looking for in making the change was more control. They definitely fly different than P790's but hopefully after an adjustment period they will meet or exceed my expectations.
      Wedges: A different look from what I am used to but feel is amazing. The shaft on full swings is so easy for me to deliver correctly.
      Putter: Not a fast revolving door but one that moves some. Have gotten used to the look of the center shaft but still struggling with alignment some.
      Ball: Titleist PROV1X #23 imprinted with THEZIPR in blue. Have played this ball since its birth and while I have tried many other options nothing has been able to kick it out.
      Rangefinder: Bushnell PRO X2
      Glove: Footjoy Weathersof. Love the Ping tour glove but at the rate I go through gloves I just can't justify the price difference.
      Shoes: Ecco Biom G 3 BOA and Biom Hybrid 3 BOA. Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

      It's that time of the year again! Who's ready for some fantasy football?!

      This is your Official 2019 MGS Fantasy Football League Thread. Let me or @GolfSpy STUDque know if you are interested in playing this season as the league generally fills up fast. Please only apply if you plan on keeping up with your team the whole season! It is no fun when people throw in the towel after the first few weeks go poorly and THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK INTO FUTURE LEAGUES. We have some teams from last year's league that won't be permitted into this year's league, for this very reason.
      With that said, prior year's league members who participated all season long will have priority to joining this league.

      The League will be run again on Fantrax which was gracious enough to waive their fee for a split division league. They have been working hard to fix the bugs that they had last year and are continuing to make improvements to the site, as well as, the app. Fantrax is our best bet for such a large league with split divisions. Last year the league was 28 teams strong it was much easier to run it all through Fantrax, than it was in the past with two separate leagues on ESPN.

      What are we playing for you might ask?! Well pride of course.
      That and what we can call The Golden Ticket! Which is the ability to test and review anything you like in the following year. Who wants some shiny new toys?!

      Alrighty, let's open up the floor for questions. Please DM me and Co-Commish @GolfSpy STUDque with your email address if you would participate in this year's league!
      Please follow this thread as there will be more info to come in the coming weeks.

      The results of the My Golf Ball ball study generated a lot of discussion and also questions as a result.  If one of those questions you had is, which model of Srixon ball will work best for me, the Z Star or the Z Star XV, then we may the answer for you.
      Four of our members were sent a dozen of each, and will be putting them in play on the course and putting green over the next 4  to 5 weeks to see which one works best for them.  They will report in regularly along the way with results form both.  So feel free to chime in with questions and read both their stage reviews to get their full thoughts.

      Our Four Testers Are:
      @Reesedw               Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @pulledabill             Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @ChasingScratch    Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @golfertrb                Stage 1                 Stage 2
