2018 March MyGolfSpy Madness

Recommended Posts

So in real college sports - you know where the players aren't paid or paid for - and do not start because I have solid insider info on it - the Lady Huskies demonstrated to Virginia how a 1 seed takes care of business.

Of course they have to listen to their coach because if they don't it's next woman up.

The insider info I have is committed n sense - woman's teams don't via payouts because there's not enough money to justify the expenditure.

The picture my insider paints is that if a hoops or football program has recruited a four or five star recruit they've paid someone, somewhere for the right to contact him.

It's pretty much the picture we saw from the FBI report. There's way more of the same out there. This was just one agency.

Today is the day my bracket falls apart. It is going to get busted too, unless a 6-seed can overtake a 3-seed.

I had Arizona winning the whole thing, so....

So if all our brackets get busted together, then are they really busted?

Mine was in awful shape when Arizona lost but I now have new life since UVA went down too. Based on what I've been seeing on SportsCenter all year, the bracket was destined for this many upsets....it's just so darned difficult to pick which ones.

I saw a fun snippet on Twitter this morning: out of ESPN's 1.73 million brackets, there's exactly one that got EVERY PICK WRONG in the first round. That's practically Hall of Fame worthy. One of the funniest comments was "they were reckless enough to pick Penn over Kansas but still had Arizona winning"

That's the way I look at it. Most "upsets" will upset most people, which means most brackets are basically the same. A busted bracket only matters if you're trying to be perfect. You only have make bogey if everyone else makes double.

You also have to take into account the scoring. If it's weighted each round then it changes things dramatically. i.e. one final four pick(16 pts)=sixteen first round picks(1pt)

BTW- I wish the rev would stop trying to pee in my Cheerios...

The hall gave them everything they had...had a hard time with the big guy inside. But if KU hitting threes like that they can go all the way...

Good day today... I picked all of them correctly. Still half to go tomorrow, though.

CUSE!!!

Sure, I didn't pick them, which feels wrong, but they took out alot of brackets from contention. I've got 7/8 elite 8 teams, and my whole final four still in this thing. I'm feeling decent about my chances.

Edit: 6-8, damn Nevada

Yes and no... I dont care about a perfect bracket. But I have little chance of winning if a final four team goes out this early. Let alone 2 at this point lol

Lol brackets and dreams busted and I didn't even get to the 2nd week of play.

Wonder how this helps or hurts TV ratings?

I get it. I just realize there's a huge group that also are missing 2 (or more) final four teams at this point.

I'm missing both Arizona and MSU. I have Xavier in the final game and they may lose to FSU tonight.

Jesus, I thought this bracket was nearly identical to my money pool one. Turns out it isn't and I had Cincy and MSU in my final four instead of UK and Duke. Was I drunk? Well, I'm boned.

Well, I'm officially out of the running. Xavier lost, so that leaves me with 7 teams out of 16 left, neither team in the championship, and only Villanova for the Final Four.

The NCAA tournament is like the Masters. You have the right mix of underdogs and big names and leave the middle out. So there's bound to be early round upsets but in the end the names will rise to the top.

Duke, Kentucky and Kansas are still in, that's all CBS and the NCAA cares about. Plenty to carry the TV ratings and the upsets just create more intrigue.

No different from WWF only there the party company's know it's fixed. :)

I am enjoying it when I watch. The Gonzaga game the other night reminded me of the old Big East. I'd love to see them win it all because that's not who the NCAA would prefer.

To be sure I don't believe the individual games are fixed just that the system is rigged to almost insure a great leader board. Exactly like the Masters.

Wait doesn't CBS cover both?

FML. I pick a bracket every year and every year my wife goes in blind and beats the hell out of me.  its ridiculous.  Out of my family pool which includes my MIL I am dead last.  Kentucky is my final hope.

      Almost a total remodel of the bag.

       Glide Forged 60 KBS Hi Rev 2.0
       SS 28 CS 33"

      Driver: Thank you MGS, flat out the best driver I have ever had in the bag.
      3W: A random purchase after being unable to hit the original epic 3w. Put same shaft that I was fit for in the epic and it has been a match made in heaven. Absolute money from the tee and I know exactly what it will do from the fairway. Combined with the driver there are not many par 5's that I can't reach.
      5W: Solid club but this spot has always been a trouble spot in my bag and that hasn't changed in 20 years.
      Irons: Love the combo and they feel absolutely amazing. All of them are 1* strong, standard lie and +1/2" Biggest thing I was looking for in making the change was more control. They definitely fly different than P790's but hopefully after an adjustment period they will meet or exceed my expectations.
      Wedges: A different look from what I am used to but feel is amazing. The shaft on full swings is so easy for me to deliver correctly.
      Putter: Not a fast revolving door but one that moves some. Have gotten used to the look of the center shaft but still struggling with alignment some.
      Ball: Titleist PROV1X #23 imprinted with THEZIPR in blue. Have played this ball since its birth and while I have tried many other options nothing has been able to kick it out.
      Rangefinder: Bushnell PRO X2
      Glove: Footjoy Weathersof. Love the Ping tour glove but at the rate I go through gloves I just can't justify the price difference.
      Shoes: Ecco Biom G 3 BOA and Biom Hybrid 3 BOA. Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

      It's that time of the year again! Who's ready for some fantasy football?!

      This is your Official 2019 MGS Fantasy Football League Thread. Let me or @GolfSpy STUDque know if you are interested in playing this season as the league generally fills up fast. Please only apply if you plan on keeping up with your team the whole season! It is no fun when people throw in the towel after the first few weeks go poorly and THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK INTO FUTURE LEAGUES. We have some teams from last year's league that won't be permitted into this year's league, for this very reason.
      With that said, prior year's league members who participated all season long will have priority to joining this league.

      The League will be run again on Fantrax which was gracious enough to waive their fee for a split division league. They have been working hard to fix the bugs that they had last year and are continuing to make improvements to the site, as well as, the app. Fantrax is our best bet for such a large league with split divisions. Last year the league was 28 teams strong it was much easier to run it all through Fantrax, than it was in the past with two separate leagues on ESPN.

      What are we playing for you might ask?! Well pride of course.
      That and what we can call The Golden Ticket! Which is the ability to test and review anything you like in the following year. Who wants some shiny new toys?!

      Alrighty, let's open up the floor for questions. Please DM me and Co-Commish @GolfSpy STUDque with your email address if you would participate in this year's league!
      Please follow this thread as there will be more info to come in the coming weeks.

      The results of the My Golf Ball ball study generated a lot of discussion and also questions as a result.  If one of those questions you had is, which model of Srixon ball will work best for me, the Z Star or the Z Star XV, then we may the answer for you.
      Four of our members were sent a dozen of each, and will be putting them in play on the course and putting green over the next 4  to 5 weeks to see which one works best for them.  They will report in regularly along the way with results form both.  So feel free to chime in with questions and read both their stage reviews to get their full thoughts.

      Our Four Testers Are:
      @Reesedw               Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @pulledabill             Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @ChasingScratch    Stage 1                  Stage 2
      @golfertrb                Stage 1                 Stage 2
