I googled it.  No one but john daly has tried it during a tourney...and he tried to do it after dropping his first try into the water so his carry distance was reduced to "only" 275 yards.   Of course he took quite a few more swings at it carding a 18 for that hole that day.

It will be very interesting to see how Tiger follows up last week.  If he can keep the ball in play off the tee then a win is possible.  If he is getting worn out from tournament golf it seems like it would show up off the tee since that is what he is struggling with the most.

I'm at work and not watching so all I see is -3. Looking good. Like a few others I'm wondering if he has the stamina to put together four respectable rounds back to back weeks.

 

Regardless this comeback seems like it's for real and I have little doubt that there's a few wins on the horizon at some point.

I love how the narrative went from "could Tiger ever play 72 again" to him being favorite to win the Masters. The best part of this comeback isn't seeing someone I idolized come back from rock bottom, it's the fact that I know the Tiger haters are in pain amidst his success. I'm petty like that

In clips like this, how awesome is it to see him laughing about it going in?

 

That's one of my favorite things about New Tiger. It's like he's out here as a fan of himself and can celebrate the greatness with the gallery. Much better for his state of mind than trying to be Mr Killer 24/7.

 

Time will tell if this translates to pressure down the stretch but he really looks like he's enjoying the moment.

This is a course that I have played, it is always a must watch for me.  When I was there Suzanne Petersen was on the putting green at the same time.  She was very intent in her putting practice so I did not bother her.

Not worried about DJ, he always has a little slump. JS is too busy planning a wedding, you can tell that he is preoccupied. That or he heard Tiger is back and wilted under the pressure.

There is certainly an Ebb and Flo to golf. Remember that last year at this time Matsuyama was the sheik pick and he's so young he may get there at some point. Those of us who grew up watching Jack or Tiger are spoiled. Most players, even great players, forge their victories in clusters and struggle as much as they succeed.

As a relatively new golfer I'm still amazed of how this happens. They're all great ball strikers but then the brain gets in the way. I think the mental training part of the game is as critical as the physical (ball striking and conditioning).

Considering how well T-Dubs was playing, it's no shock he's comeback down to earth in the 2nd round. Just not playing well today, it happens.
