I had a shaft discussion with myself this morning in the SLDR post. I'm trying to experiment around with some shafts for the Flyz+ I bought a while back. None of the shaft options I've been trying are expensive. Nor do they need to be. And none of them have worked either. Not yet anyway as I'm getting ready to test the same shaft I have in my SLDR. Will this one work?

But since I'm not working with my fitter at this time I'm trying the do it yourself approach. But honestly, I could use some better shaft selections and a LM to at least get headed in the right direction. Perhaps I will.

You make a great point. But I already have them all. The question is - which to play :-( or should I glue them together and game an uber Transformers-like-shaft

Yeah will see my fitter tomorrow. But I do love experimenting. Went from e6 to c8 SWs on my driver this year alone

Of those the Kiyoshi Purple is what I would play.  I've been fit in to it before and know it works well with my swing.

I'm not sure how that could possibly help with picking a shaft for your swing though...

I've been fitted for all of them at one point or another :-) The oban is in one of my drivers now, the other will probably be the mj-5s...

I have similar guilt/question/issue. Over the winter I have bought a few driver Shafts, all with Callaway Epic / Rogue adapter. I will need to decide one to use, and get rid of (sell) the rest. The shafts are:

- GD Tour ad iz 5s

- GD tour ad mt 5s

- Fujikura pro 53

- GD tour ad bb 6s

- Ust Recoil ES 450 f3

- project X T800 55 6.0 ( Epic stock shaft)

Thinking back now it would have made more sense to go to Club Champions to get a driver fitting. I could try more shafts, plus it's cheaper. However the down side for driver fitting is I could only hit a few shots for each shaft. That may not be enough to accurately decide the right shaft to use.

Any comments? :) :(

Nice shafts to choose from. Hard to make recommendations without knowing how fast you swing, tempo and how you load your shaft... But having a 12* head indicates you need maybe a higher launching shaft so I'd go with the mj-5...

I'm pretty sure some of us have been in your shoes :D  Without knowing how you swing the club, how fast, transition/load, it like finding a needle in a haystack.  What I would do is find a local range that has a trackman and see if you can pay for an hour or two.  Try each one out and see what gives you the best combination of spin and launch and go with that one.

I've always wanted to try that AD-DI6+ shaft!  Of course, I also wanted an Oban Devotion 6 shaft so I went and picked one up, only to find it didn't suit my swing, LOL...live and learn!

Agree with GolfHacker.  Really need to know the profile of the swing but also what you want to get out of the shaft... what type of ball flight, what type of feel, etc.  I have been playing in a low launch HAZRDUS X shaft but it felt wippy at the tip (tipped 1").  I switched to a M ball flight Atmos and it felt much more stable than the PX HZ Black.  But it all comes down to how it performs and how it feels.  We can't tell you that.  Performance comes from testing and feels comes from you.

For the pure PXG effect, I think you should choose the shaft that cost the money, so either the GD or the Oban!

Seriously though, hopefully the fitter can make it work for you.

Don't know about op but for me I found good deals and buy from eBay. After I tested I resell at eBay most time at a modest loss. A lot of time and effort was spent but really not too bad financially wise.. it would be a totally different story if buying new paying retail price and let them collect dust:)

I'm not a fitter, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Those shafts are all different animals. I'm looking on my phone so correct me if I'm wrong. It looks like you got 50-80 gram shafts? Some are high launch, low spin, different kick points and so on.

Wait - you're going on a launch monitor? Be still me heart! :)

At puttingpirate enjoy the new driver - all those shafts like delightful but I haven't a clue which one will work best for you. Let us know which you choose and how it works out.

Hey I never said I didn't like a LM. Now don't go dig up some old post where I said I did. LOL

What I will admit to is that I don't like hitting a driver into a net and taking the LM at it's digital word. If a LM says I'm in a good shaft..... then I want to go outside on the course with my game ball. Then we'll see. Literally.

I had much the same dilemma and a box of shafts t go show for it. I finally bought a Project X LZ 5.5 and love it...and it was cheap. Even though 5.5, I can't overpower it if I get on it and it loves a smooth swing.
