New Hogan Wedges

Just like the same reason why they don't make the exact same tennis /golf shoe year after year.... Variety. Also hard to sell a club and charge more $ if it looks exactly like last year's version...

Agreed. But maybe they should poll the customers. Grill pattern on a wedge is not cool.

If Callaway extended the APEX MB line with some matching “simple” wedges I would be all over them.

Everyone loves a clean blade. Give us what we want! Or me at least.

Interesting theory...

Expanding on that; provided you own at least 2 Equalizers, one could be used to personally customize the sole grind on the other.

Not too interested in the appearance of the back of a club.

I find it interesting how fussed people are by the what's on the back of a club in terms of aesthetics. I've played with hundreds, if not thousands of golfers, and I'm yet to see anyone get down on the ground to check out the back of a club when it's addressing the ball.

It's especially bemusing that appearance is such a focus on a forum that is supposedly all about the data.

If a club looks too weird when you look down at it to the extent it impacts the quality of the swing you put on it, well and good, but focussing on the back of the club seems a bit strange.

Question for me about any club is "will I score lower using it?"

Golfers would do well to be so logical. That said, Spock never mentioned playing golf.

I think this proposed design (from g****rx) nailed it in terms of doing milling patterns right. Can't say I love it any more than the cleaner look, but it is an improvement over what still looks a little cheap to me. The more I look at the wedge design the more I expect to see it in a discount club bin.

I totally get what your saying. But having heard from one OEM R&D person there is a considerable amount of thought as to the look on the back of a club, Because that's what you see when it's in your bag, as well as your playing partners, bag drop guys, Caddie's and so on.

100%

And there are so many equally good performing wedges out there there's no need to to have to pick one that looks bad.

So absolutely looks matter

That's why I can't stand Callaway Wedges, those holes are hideous, no offense to the Cally fans, but those are just yuck, and the faces are funky looking.

Clean, garbage free clubs will sell. No one does it outside of their blade offerings.

The milling pattern matches the PTx short irons. I would have liked them to keep the brass Hogan profile badge that the PTx had. Otherwise, I like them. They remind me of the Apex Plus irons.

A word of caution, however.

While the online ordering page lets one make length and lie adjustments, the options one wants aren't necessarily there.

For example, if you want the 48, the 54, and the 60, all at 35½" and 63º lie, that's a pretty simple request that the online order form can't handle. You have to call them directly.

Also, I don't wear a glove and thus require a wrap-style grip.  They don't offer one online.  Finding a few Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2Gs isn't a big ask, but you can't get them ordering online.

I don't wear a glove either and they are a little slick. I would suggest doing the trial and try one out first. I love the equalizer and would recommend them to anyone.
