StrokerAce
Love me some match play.... I think this is a great format to play the week before the masters. Gets you thinking a little bit differently on the golf course. In honor of the DT check out this podcast from Walter Isaacson - pretty short (~30 min) and has a great history of golf...nothing groundbreaking but interesting to hear about the history of some things. http://feeds.podcasts.dell.com/trailblazers (it's the first one on the page named "Tee Time"...his podcasts are fantastic, btw) Driver- Cobra Aerojet LS Woods- Cobra LTD 3w 15*, 5W 19*, F9 24* Irons- XXIO X (6-A) Wedges- Callaway Jaws Raw (54/58) Putter- Bettinardi BB56 Ball- Maxfli Tour X/Wilson Triad Buggy- Clicgear 4.0 Bag- Callaway Org 14/Fairway C

MaxEntropy
Reading a review of the groupings, I saw this.... Teeing off: Cantlay could be the Tour's most reserved player, Smith isn't much more outspoken and Matsuyama and Miyazato speak limited English. This will be the quietest pod, and it'll have nothing to do with gamesmanship. Made me chuckle. They also could have added it would be one of the slowest pods. Kenny B
Does anyone know how the top 16 are seeded? Is it just a random draw? They had a show on the GC the other night where they picked the players using lottery balls. Each of the top 16 had a pod, and they chose the pod players using 3 baskets of balls; basically the "B" player, "C" player, and "D" player based on rankings. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Kenny B
If Spieth doesn't get his act together on the greens, he's toast at Augusta. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Kenny B
I wish there were more Match Play events. It's all about the money. Not the best for television or watching at the course when your pick exists early. The change they made with round robin play helps somewhat. It's exciting because every player has to play well right out of the gate. Any player can have a bad round, but they can recover if that round is early in stroke play. One and done in the old match play; same now unless you get lucky in your pod. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Berg Ryman
I wish they'd go a step further and turn this event into a sixes like the European Tour does. Round robin 6 hole matches for the group over one day, send off each pod as twosomes back to back to play rotating 6 hole matches. Let's get weird if we're getting weird. StrokerAce
Not sure why guys keep trying to hit it on the green on 18. A layup and wedge is almost a guaranteed par.....a couple matches I saw came down to 18 when guys pulled driver and ended up in jail. The precision required by that tee shot seems like it might not be worth it. How wide is the “safe†area compared to their miss dispersion? Lots of possible strategies but generally the shorter club that is in a pros hands the closer to the hole they will end up.
