Worst Balls Ever

The old school ones I remember being so great in many areas but awful in another were Maxfli Revolution. I loved the performance of those back in the day, but you took them out and the covers turned an awful brown colour almost immediately.

I think the worst ball in recent memory is any of the Volvics ----- Some how I ended up with a dozen---- Worst hitting ball I ever played. Even feel hard off a metal driver. To make matters worse they feel just as hard off a Mizuno or Miura iron. Range balls hit better.

I nominate the Titleist DT Trusoft.  Short lived for a reason.  I played one box of these and they had zero ability to hold a green.

Also played a box of Callaway Warbirds once.  Should've put them down when I had trouble getting them to scan at the self check out.  Turns out they had a Japanese barcode and a barcode for the rest of the world.

If it weren't for the purchase requirement of this thread, I would say range balls win.  True boulders.

But great for using as water balls to go over a stream, pond etc. Find lots on the course. many courses here are using really good range balls and not painted that dark yellow more just regular yellow balls.

Mojo and half of all the Nike balls they made, along with most Top Flights unless you like hitting a rock

Have used Nike and Topflite like them. Wilson Ultra's are hard but long.

I've sworn for awhile Warbirds are just Top Flite with a Callaway logo.

I dont even pick up Top Flights or Pinnacles for any reason.. But I have a new contender........ Warrior Golf balls.. OMG , my Father in law got a putter and wedge from them and they sent him some balls. HOLY crap they make range balls feel decent,...These balls are pure junk. I was afraid to use my driver as I didn't want to smash the face in, that's how bad the felt..

I bought two dozen of the Kirkland Signature 4-piece and never figured out what the hype was about. Not classifying as "worst" but any ball I play, don't like, and never will play again can be classified as "worst". Regarding the Top Flite, 25 years ago when the Oldsmobile was played at the Disney courses, I came into a few dozen Oldsmobile logo Top Flites (bequeathed from my  brother who would not play such a ball) and actually liked the ball. Don't remember the design of the ball but perhaps playing steel woods over titanium made the difference. Never found a Nike or Bridgestone ball I liked. My go to ball of choice is the ProV1x or the TP5.

This thread reminds me of a rather lovely review done in the early years of the GEA forum, by a forum member who went by Zensuit.  He tried the Strata Tour Ultimate, and was considerably underwhelmed.  He waxed poetic about his distaste for it, at one point saying he'd find hitting a Molitor off the parking lot asphalt more enjoyable than attempting to play this model Strata.

Ah, those were the days.

OneCore, feel ok but are so loud. They have been dumped in to my driving range ball bucket as I do not care if I loose them.

I don't really not like a specific brand of balls. What I don't like are some of the new finishes that feels really "rubbery" or textured.

I had some red Project A from Taylormade and yellow Volviks and I didn't like the matte finishing on the balls.

I'm sure you have been there... some random shopping stop and you find them... some amazing looking golf balls at an unbelievable price - you buy them and are beyond excited to try them, only to find they amount to little more than hitting rocks with your club. LOL

So, what are the worst balls you have had the displeasure of playing?

I would have to place NITRO brand at the top of the list. Seems like a very hard ball, not enjoyable to hit. IMO!

I vote for the original Titleist Professional. That piece of crap would get lumps under the cover in 3 holes. Probably the most expensive golf ball ever made in terms of golf shots per ball

Yes, that ball was a lump of garbage after 3 holes haha

Hands down that Polara golf ball. The one that was suppose to fly straight. I could barely get it to fly period. Never forgot that. Used it in a tournament for a hole in one chance to win a car. I wanted that car. Didn't even hit the green. I digress. 😀 Think i donated the remaining ones to the driving range.
