Popular Post Jbmullin
I'll start off by stating I don't golf as much as I would like to, I know join the club. I am at best a 36 and just looking for something to help me enjoy the game more. I have a goal of getting to double digits this year. I have been using off the shelf clubs for a couple years and decided that I really wanted to see the difference it would make in getting fitted for a set of clubs and initial thoughts, well worth it. ( again something most here likely already know) I watched a ton of videos on the new game improvement clubs on the market this year and I settled on two sets, the ping G700 and the rogue x. They both performed well. The rogue x delivered the crazy distance i came to expect from the club reviews, I was able to knock the 7 iron out to 174 once but not able to consistently replicate that distance and finished around 162 but with a very inconsistent scattering of shots to the left and right and not many down the middle. The 7 iron was at 27 degrees of loft and to be honest at $1100 they looked cheaply made considering how nicely finished the AP1's look at with a similar price point. The ping G700 7 iron was lofted at 29.5 degrees and also had provoded me with the expected distance I had seen from the reviews. I was able to get them out to around 155 with but with a much tighter grouping and I was able to get my ball speed consistently over 100 mph , something I could not do with the rogue x. I found that I was able to make more consistent solid contact with the ping irons. The rogue x I would get the odd worm burner with but not the G700. Initially one of the biggest reasons I was interested with the G700 was the look, but then the performance really won me over. The sound and feel from a good shot was just different from Any off the shelf iron I had ever hit. I ended up going with the G700 and take delivery of them in two weeks, excited to get them out on the range and on the course to dial them in. I can definitely see the comparison of this G700 to a Nike slingshot. Hoping to read more soon. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I was my local pro shop over the weekend and I was able to do a demo test of the G700's, Rogue X, P790, and the Bridgestone JGR irons. I wanted to have a long drive competition to find the ultimate winner. Just based off looks alone I would put P790 and G700 on top. I really like the modern style. I was actually shocked at the size of the G700's. I pictured them being a little slimmer like the P790's, but they definitely give you confidence. When I was hitting them, I actually got different results between the G700 and Rogue X. I was seeing the G700 going at least 5 yards farther than the Rogue X. I wasn't able to get Rogue X to beat out the G700 on any strikes. The one that beat everyone though were the Bridgestone JGR irons. The JGR's won't win a beauty contest, but the ball stays in the air for days! I was able to get an 8 iron to go 200 yards. A normal 8 iron for maxes out around 160. It was amazing to see how far these irons were going. In terms of feel, the top 2 would easily be the JGR's and P790. The JGR's are forged and the foam with the P790 made a huge difference. I really feel that by not adding foam into the G700 that Ping missed the mark. The feel good, but they are clicky. The Rogue X irons felt pretty normal for a max game improvement iron. They weren't bad, but they weren't outstanding either. bens197, cksurfdude, Jdavis0910 and 2 others 5 Quote Driver: Callaway Rogue ST Max 3 Wood: Taylormade SIM 3 Utility Iron: Srixon U85 4i – 5i: Taylormade P790 6i – AW: Taylormade P770 SW: Taylormade MG3 TW Grind LW: Taylormade Hi-Toe 3 Low Bounce Putter: PXG Battle Ready One & Done

Jbmullin
Took delivery two days ago. 3 week delay due to shafts on back order. I tired to upload a photo to show size vs ball as requested in previous postFirst swings last night were very impressive. The clubs are very forgiving but not miracle workers, I still managed to spray a couple but when struck even close to centre the ball went high and long. One thing that did show up that I did not hear when I tested and got fitted was a click that's hard to describe when you hit the middle, it's very distinctive and certainly provides feedback but I'm not sure if it's a positive.Hoping to get out this weekend to do more than range test . bens197 1 Quote DRIVER - Ping G425 SFT Driver Tensei AV 55 Orange Reg Flex Woods - Ping G425 7 wood Tensei AV 65 Orange Reg Flex Irons - Cobra Rad Speed 1 Length UST Recoil 780 Smacwrap Graphite Reg Flex WEDGES- Callaway jaws 52/56/60 PUTTER- Taylormade FCG spider putter 34" BALL- Pro V1x or Tp5X -- trying to figure this one out. Jbmullin
Got in 9 holes. Bit of a rough outing for me as I took a lesson and was working on my set up and grip. ( going a bit more stronger than the neutral grip I was using) The clubs are amazing and worth the price for me, maybe not for everyone, but for me yes. They are making the game more enjoyable. Bad hits still got up in the air and with no wild duck hooks or worm burners just seems to want to go straight. Only draw back is the damn noise it makes when you make solid middle contact, the click sound, while providing great feedback and assurance you just hit a good shot, is actually not a big selling point. It does seem like they should have filled the inside of the head with something to deaden the sound. the good qualities are greater than the one bad one , so I'm still very happy with the purchase. Hoping to do 36 next weekend and a couple more range tests. Jbmullin
finished my first 18 with the g700's and I shot a personal best 96. I've never broken 100 before. the putter really let me down. the g700 clubs were very good, Most balls, well hit or not were going high and long and balls that hit the green rolled out a bit and stopped. it does not take much effort to hit the ball well with these clubs, slow and steady. The aim was a bit off but that is the operator not the clubs fault. I did not notice the noise from the face as much. all in all very happy with the performance of the clubs. the real star of the show for me today was the Callaway Rogue draw driver I picked up after testing just about every club on the mygolfspy rankings. it was a fairway finder all day with decent distance for me. 10.5 loft in neutral settings. Matt G
This is good info for me as I am of similar golf abilities. I just tested the rogue x irons and the rogue draw driver and loved them both. After reading your posts I am going to have to check out the ping g700. Thanks again for the info. Jbmullin
Glad the bit of info I could provide was helpful Matt. I am finding that the finish on them is starting to scratch a bit but that was a known issue from watching other reviews. I did put a set of head covers on them to try and save my investment. The Callaway driver is amazing. spent some time on the range this week and it just goes straight. I can make it still go left but I know why when it happens. A 150 yard 7 iron at sea level goes.... as far as 165 at Elevation or if it's bladed just the right amount. That 165 goes.... 170-180 on a Jacked Monitor in the big box store where they are wanting no you to buy it which of course equals..... 190-200 on any golf forum in the world!
