So I was talking to our Pro yesterday - and he raved about the new Cobra one length hybrids that he demo'd at the PGA show. Did anyone else get a chance to try tthese out? Understand that they're not shipping til sometime this month.

Hmm...I was planning to go all one length for the cobra connect II challenge except for the driver which will still be shorter than stock.  Didn't realize they didn't have a one length hybrid setup.  Depending on how it works out, I may try and get this as part of the challenge.

I think the one length hybrids are an awesome idea. If I still gamed one length irons I would be all over these!

I have the 3 and 4 hybrids with my F8 One length Irons and love them. A little longer than what I had and a million times straighter. I highly recommend these clubs even if you use variable length Irons they are that good.

Tony, I got to hit the five hybrid at our golf show in the Syracuse area about a month ago. Now, it wasn't fit for me shaft wise with a regular in there and the loft was not was I was looking for, but it's a hell of a club. I was able to hit a variety of trajectories and all my typical shots with it. Plus, I think it could really do a job as a bump and run club at that shorter length for those of us who like that shot. I'm probably ordering my 3 hybrid in the line to fill that 195-210 gap sometime this week if all goes well.

However, since you do have a Crossover, maybe the One Length King Utility may be more your style as well. Adjustable in loft (the One Length Hybrid is not) and more of a driving iron shape may be more to your liking. I haven't hit them though, don't think many have considering they just went for presale last week.

I tried it recently at a Cobra Demo Day.  I had pretty good results with it.  It definitely felt shorter than my normal hybrid....uh duh...yeah...that's the idea...

But I was hitting out onto a range that was tough to get  good idea of distance, it was the 22 or 23 degree, it was going past the 125 but shorter than the 175...that's as good as I could tell you...ha But the ball flight was decently high and straight.

I just bought a demo Cobra one-length utility iron from ksouth9 on ebay (see here: https://mygolfspy.com/first-look-cobras-king-utility-black-and-king-utility-black-one/). Should be here later this week, so i'll try and write-up a little review if any of you would be interested. It's not the traditional (lol) hybrid but I feel like it could serve a similar demographic.

They are available. I picked up the F8 ONE 3H and 4H from Golfclubsdirect.com......at the expense of not bringing up prices, I did get a nice deal of 20bills off each back in March (PS: I have no affiliation with the site. Came across a deal so sharing FWIW). These Hybrids are sweet !

  • 4 years later...

I put a 4 and/or 5 in the bag for testing (F8) if I should go all one length. My back will pinch late in the round on 9 - wedges as I tire and "perhaps" let my posture sag a bit. No structural problem but doc says the disks have compressed - join the club - he's as old as I am. Back to the clubs.

Solid feel, related to the heaviness. Distance control is good. Playing with some shafts, looks like I'm still a "stiff" guy but down to a 80 gram shaft from a 95 in past hybrids. A regular shaft wasn't workable on command. I could get a double cross easily if I was trying to feather a fade (you can't talk to it; just hope for a good tree bounce). That seems related to the heavier weight feel. You DO know where the clubhead is at all times.

  • 2 weeks later...

I purchased a used set of 4H, 5-G irons at the end of last summer. I still haven’t learned my distances yet, but I love them. I went with one length because I was looking for back relief on short irons. I’ve grown attached to my 4H, but I still laugh at the length of it … looks like a Jr club. I hit it just as far as my standard length 4H. I like it so much I’m ordering a 3 and am toying with the idea of a 5.

Yeah, they are funny looking, and just an odd feeling standing over the ball. But boy are they easy to hit straight. I end up losing too much distance, for the guy just trying to advance to ball forward and getting something they can make contact, elevate the ball, and get going, these are absolutely money. Especially in the 4/5 hybrid area.
