Well, I'm a cumulative +13, and that's without Sergio. I don't know how you can be much more screwed than that.

Picking Kevin Na at #5

I'm at -9 as of now.... so since Na is Na-Na can I just count him as even or match my highest score?????

No worries if not, just thought I'd throw it out there just in case

I'm like this with Thomas. Maybe it's because when he kept winning at the end of last year he screwed my chances of a big pay day in the season long pool I was in... he would hit a bad shot; get some miracle of a bounce. Completely snuff a shot; chip the next in. Bad lie; relief from Sprinkler head. It just didn't stop! Every shot he hit it just dropped me further out of it... so yeah... that's probably it!

I have no money on any of it. JT and JS are on the same page in my book.

I tend to pick things a bit too early but if it's lowest combined total score anyway, my 4 just might have a chance, especially is people start Sergioing

It's not. If you'll remember from the original pool announcement, rankings in the pool are determined by purse payout dollars. You can find the total purse breakdown here:

https://thegolfnewsnet.com/golfnewsnetteam/2018/03/18/2018-masters-purse-winners-share-prize-money-payout-108817/amp/

Then ties are split between all the positions tied with. For example, Finau and Kuchar are tied for 2nd. They occupy the 2nd and 3rd position on the leaderboard which pay out at $1,188,000 and $748,000 respectively. The tie splits that money paying each player 968,000.........and so on down the leaderboard.

No, he is fine. I just don't like him. Nothing against him as a person. Wish him no harm. Not sure what it is.

I'm similar. What bugs me is how the announcers talk about him, more than anything.

That and slow player irritate me.

I don't think it works that way, and my understanding is that it's prize money, not strokes. However, if three of my guys miss the cut, which could definitely happen, and all of yours make it, you could still be up despite having a blank on tier 5.

Didn't get to watch much at all. On the road most of the day. Looks like some top names played well, and others not so well. Finau bad ankle and all, I wonder if that will catch up to him tomorrow with all the walking, but im Sure the doctors are working closely with him on that, a bunch of guys did what you need to do on Thursday, just play decent, you can't win on day one, but you sure can lose it on day one (just ask Sergio). Phil, Rickie, JT, JR, Tiger and a bunch of others just keep the score around par maybe a bit under, and give yourself a chance come the weekend. JS is playing well again and making putts, oh, and he loves this course and outside of 2 Bad swings he would have 2 jackets. Should be fun to see the next 3 days.

They said he has had as many rounds in the lead at Augusta as Tiger has had in his whole career. I know Shanks this is one of your pet peeves is comparing him to the greats(by the way that's why you hate him so much, that and the talking to the ball all the time).

I'm not disagreeing that he is a great golfer.

Maybe get rid of the under armour sponsor, and the ATT bag, and put him in a Criquet shirt, some wing tips, and a jones golf bag.... and a permanent mute feature on my TV then... I'd probably like him.

A few years ago I wanted him to win everything. I would have much rather him win the 16 than handing Danny willet a jacket... but now my man Tiger is back, and anything standing in his way irritates me.

This tournament is about keeping your ball in position from tee to green. The guy who controls his irons and keeps them under the hole often wins.

That's why Spieth does well there. He's a great iron player.

I had a friend, God rest his soul, who was a member at Augusta, he played there a number of times - 2 or 3 times a year for 10 years or so. He would always say it was better to be 150 in the right spot than 15 feet in the wrong spot and that's under “normal” conditions.

Sadly he was no longer a member when I knew him. He gave up his membership when he took a golden parachute from work and went to Seminary. At that time he had played 76 of the top 100 courses in the world. Great guy, was always very kind to me, took me to several great courses in the Midwest to play including Murfield Village.

My favorite story was about his playing the Murfield.

He went out in 37 and then turned back into the wind. Shot a smooth 50 on the back. :)

To Wayne (he says, holding his scotch and downing it before going to bed).

Like the pond at 12.

I'm not a big fan of the kid but he's finished leading as many rounds at Augusta as Tiger has. Come on now. Tiger has done some embarrassing crap with the best of em..

Edit: no secret that Rors is my fave of the younger bunch but even he has embarrassed himself. People were talking about "McIlroying it" when refering to blowing it after 2011.

There are only two pros I'd rather not see win, I'm happy for any of the others win they win. Sergio is my least favorite touring pro, but I even felt bad for him. In 53 years playing golf, I've never seen anyone, even the worst duffer, who's ever put more than 2-3 balls in the same water hazard, more than one consecutive has been rare IME. Augusta is way hard, but 5 times for a big name pro. How? What Sergio did on his sixth try is what normal players do on their second try...

Who's the second?

I'm sure you all know more about the game and the hole than me but after the second didn't stick, wouldn't it be time to try something different?  Maybe stick it in the bunker so it doesn't run off the green again?  I'm not sure how tight things are with patrons and so forth, but there's got to be someplace to land that where you don't have anywhere near the risk of it backing up off the green.

I'm legitimately asking the question, why?

I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad!
