sixcat
I used to be something of a Brandle apologist. I agreed when he suggested Tiger needs to figure his own swing out without benefit of a coach and stop tinkering. But his obsession with being controversial has become tiresome. I honestly believe he does it now for attention. Rory has a pure swing. As pure as anyone that's ever played the game. It served him well when he lapped the field at Congressional and Kiawah. He has tendencies, especially under pressure, we all do. He knows what his tendencies are and how to avoid them for the most part. Rory needs to keep working with Brad Faxon on his putting. He missed several short putts Thursday through Saturday. Sunday, he missed seemingly everything between 4 and 10 feet. Had Rory made those short putts, he probably isn't playing from behind Sunday. At worst, he goes into Sunday tied with Reed. And all the short putts he missed Sunday would have kept him close to Reed if not right with him. Leave it to Chamblee to want to tear down his house for a leaky faucet!

Undershooter
Great Masters guys! Reed wasn't the champ I wanted but he was definitely deserving. His swing changes in the off season have definitely paid off. My team finished at -20 thanks to Poults being my only player over par. I didn't come close to winning bc I didn't have Reed. (Kuch killed me) My total earning were: $1,283,150I had Spieth, Kuch, Hoffman, Henley, and Poulter btw. Best of luck to the rest of the spies playing! Kor.A.Door
I didn't participate in the sweepstakes. I really enjoyed watching this year, and commenting through this thread. I think Reed earned every bit of this championship. Is he the guy I picked or really wanted to win, nope, but it doesn't bother me that he won. He put 4 really solid rounds of golf together, and the pressure he had as he started the back nine was heavy, and he held it together pretty well. He didn't play perfectly, but man did he make a couple solid putts when he needed to. Good for him, this could really push him forward to win a it more often. sixcat
Really interesting read http://www.golf.com/knockdown/2018/04/08/masters-patrick-reed-estranged-family-complex-mix-emotions As I stated in another thread, Its interesting in a sense that Shipnuck seems to have an agenda. He presents the Reed's as a working class family with their modest, "tidy little two-story house". It's a 400k+ house in a town where the median home value is less than 125k. It's misleading, intentionally in my opinion. It feels like he wants the reader to come to a desired conclusion. It doesn't seem to have a lot of journalistic integrity as a result. He has suggested on social media today that he has given Reed plenty of opportunities to tell "his side of the story". What would Patrick have to gain from telling his side of the story? Especially to a guy like Shipnuck who clearly wants nothing more than to shove salacious click-bait out into the public masked as "journalism". Just my opinion! Alan loves to publish click-bait and is always looking for a story to push him into the spotlight. At the end of the day gossip and scandals get more clicks and sell more magazines. I had the chance to meet Alan Shipnuck a few years ago when I was working at the top golf club in Shanghai, China. Alan came and played a round of golf and wrote a very backwards article portraying our local caddies in a negative light. He couldn't simply play the course and tell about what a nice experience it was to have a professional female caddy with him for the day. He felt he needed to spin it a different direction to get more clicks. I'm not saying PReed is perfect. Sure he has some drama, but every family has drama. Reed played like a champion and deserves the credit. We should look at him for his actions on the course and let him sort out his family drama by himself. The guy won and that's all that matters, and unless you personally know him and can tell me otherwise, the rest of it is media garbage spun up to sell papers and clicks online. Even if any of it is true, I'm not a model human being either so who am I to judge? I'll never understand society's fascination with other people's drama. Padreruf
Patrick Reed is a flawed human being like the rest of us...but he happens to be an incredible golfer so: 1. He has grown up in the public eye...and not well at times... 2. He has become very distrustful of the media... Get over it...we've all got baggage if you go poking around in our past. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I don't believe he wants an equipment deal. He said in an interview the other day "it's hard to believe that there's one company that makes 14 perfect clubs and a perfect golf ball for every player". He works with an independent clubmaker formerly with The Oven at Nike. It's also an opportunity for him to be different, which is something that drives him. I don't believe he signs a club deal. Most of the stuff that Shipnuck wrote about is public knowledge and has been for years. Shipnuck is 100% a clickbait artist but nothing he published there is false. He also left out the fact that Reed stole a putter out of his teammates bag in their locker room back at UGA. Reed has still yet to own up to any of the negative things he did at UGA, to this day. I have nothing against Reed. To me, he's Captain America. Our Ryder cup hero. But it is sad the way that his family situation is. I remember a lot of stuff Justine and her mom posted on social media a few years back trashing Reed's parents and sister and calling them all kind of names. There is WAY more to this story. We may never know all of it. And it prolly isn't our business. But I am curious about it regardless. Reed won't answer any questions about any family situation. I think it's strange that only Justine's family are aloud to be "team Reed." Patrick foots the bill for the brother and the mom. There isn't something quite right about it. I'll leave it at that. It may not be. But this is a story that he and a few others have been pushing to find out more info on for a long time. And Reed won't cooperate or answer any questions about it so it makes it more difficult for him to get any information from Reed's side. I get the timing of the article. It will generate the most traffic right now bc of Reed's win or after the Ryder Cup if he plays well again. Isn't necessarily the fairest of timing for Pat but it is what it is.
