Totally disagree. I like him — especially at the Ryder Cup — I just didn't want to see him win today. I don't really think people hate him.

And there you go. The reasoning behind my “miss it” post”, Ryder Cup sure I'll root for him. There were others I'd have like to see win it.

I've always liked Reed. I followed him through 15 holes on Sunday last year at the PGA, amazing golfer, hit some amazing shots then. Talked with his wife a couple times as well, she seemed nice. Anyway, he played exactly how he needed to today, he struggled early today, but didn't completely blow it like others have in the past. With all the pressure he had on him coming through with par on 17, and 18 to win it was great. Congrats to him and his family, no one can take the major win away from him, he earned it this weekend. Great playing.

 

Would love to have seen Rickie or Jordan pull it off though.

That's actually how I am with Rory. I have nothing against him, I just tend to root for other guys. There was so much to root for today. It was hard to figure out. Ricky cost me some money - I needed Rahm to finish ahead of him in my friend's pool. But man did he play great. So did Spieth - wow. But Reed did what he needed to do. He's tough and Augusta fits his game. I suspect he'll get another one of these in the not so distant future.

He's one of those guys that you hate if he's going against you, but if he's on your team (like the Ryder Cup) you love his passion and cockiness. Hated him today against Fowler and Spieth, loved him against Rory 18 months ago.

Right three with you. I definitely wasn't rooting against Patrick, I just had others I wanted to win instead. But he played great and deserves the Green Jacket for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised by Rickie today. He had several changes earlier in the round that would have had potential for a different outcome. Reed just played beast today. Good for him.

This weekend into today was one of my favorite Masters tournaments I've ever watched. One takeaway is the ridiculously crude hatred towards Reed.

 

I've read a lot today where fans have shown a lot of disdain towards Patrick while in contention and following his win today. A fat loser, fat douche among others. I'm lost when I read this.

 

The guy can flat out play. He was an absolute stud at Hazeltine and today, kept his composure at the turn while the scoreboard had two recent Masters champions with 3 jackets bearing down on him (Spieth and Watson).

 

Today was awesome and a tip of the hat for a great win by a guy who can clearly step up his game under pressure.

Maybe he was a bit of an ass when he was younger- lots of people are. I wasn't perfect by any means.

But people can grow up and mature. And I was always cocky as all get out in every sport I played. And I always thought I would win too.

I don't know firsthand, so I won't judge his past.

All I know for sure is he played well enough to be sporting a green jacket- and that's alright by me...

I'm at a loss as to why people don't like him and Spieth. They love Rory who dumped a delightful young lady and equipment company that was with him in his youth, but hate Reed. I have nothing against Rory really, he's young, young guys do those types of things but what is Reed guilty of? Being passionate? Competitive? We love that in other sports, why not golf?

I completely agree with you guys!

 

But I read somewhere that apparently Reed's style of play (his Ryder Cup-style of play) rubbed his college team-mates the wrong way. That's why he played at Georgia state and Augusta National.
