Kwoodfield 84
Hey everyone, was wondering what you all think of the mizuno GT180 driver and/or ST180 driver. I personally think mizuno woods are often overlooked because of their lack of “big name player†and lack of “mass marketing†but their product performs. We all know their irons are top notch, may not be for everyone but nonetheless great sticks. But what are your opinions of their woods? How do they compare to other drivers you've hit. Sound? Feel, distance, carry, shot shape etc. And Go!

Rtracymog 835
It's pretty loud. It's pretty straight for the most part. It launches a little higher than most and it spins a little more than most. It's a nice club though. cnosil 25,147
I hit them as part of the most wanted testing. To be honest most of the drivers for me blended together with pretty similar results. It is a solid driver that performs well. There are a few people on here that found it was the best driver for them. Mizuno, who generally is not known for woods, has put together a solid product. 2 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* set to 16.5* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 816H1 19* set at 18* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 5-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54-10S 588 58-12 Putter: Auditions ongoing Backups: 6330, TM-180, Milled Collection RSX 2, Bellum Winmore 787, mFGP2, Directed Force 2.1 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
juspoole 3,326
I hit just about every club at a recent demo day and the ST was second place for me only to this years' most wanted driver the Ping G400 LST. I too found the sound a bit loud, but it was easy to hit and produced a high, but not ballooning flight. It was still penetrating and for me I had my normal slight fade. The distance or forgiveness was certainly above standard and better than most, just not as good as the Ping for me. Spin numbers were a bit higher with this one compared to Rogue Sub Zero or LST. I thought it compared with the 917D2 in terms of looks (shape) and feel, but just a bit better in my opinion. I thought the Blue looked nice and one of the better renditions of colored drivers that I've seen. I thought the old Nike's were a little too much for my taste. 1 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34"
cksurfdude 10,803
There are member reviews elsewhere in the forums about Mizuno woods, and from everything that I've read they're definitely an under-rated/should be looked at brand. 1 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... ..Callaway Big Bertha B21 driver (Recoil ES 450/F3) ..Callaway Bertha Mini 1.5 (UST ProForce V2-HL 5/F3) ..Callaway Epic Max 5W (PX Cypher 50/5.0) ..Callaway Big Bertha 4H and 5H (both Recoil ZT9/F3) ..PXG 0211 6i-GW (Mitsubishi MMT 60/A) ..Cleveland CBX2 54 and CBX 60 (Rotex graphite) ..EvnRoll ER5 or MLA XDream (Edel EAS 4.0 on the bench) ..all in a Datrek bag on an MGI Zip Navigator electric cart. RedHacker48 35
I purchased the ST 180 a couple of weeks before the Most Wanted list came out. I've only been able to hit it indoors into a net but so far the feel is great and the sound isn't TO loud. It's less sharp then hitting a Ping G25 or G30 but louder then a Callaway Epic. Kwoodfield 84
That's great feedback. I haven't heard much on it being loud. I ordered it and am pretty excited to start gaming it. I'm going on from the Taylormade r1 v2 which I think has lost its “pop†I have slowly seen less distance from the Taylormade. Tried the mizuno and the rogue and was right back where I used to be +/- 5 yds
Slacker27 0
I have hit almost every new model driver that has been released in past 6 months. I chose the ST180 and have no regrets. Higher percentage of fairways hit vs Ping, Callaway, TM, PXG. Not sure what the "loud" comments are about. Kwoodfield 84
So I got my first round in Saturday. I had it set to 9.5 upright and notice it was going a bit left for my liking. Had the 2 weights (1 set to low in the center track , 1 set to max draw) I prefer playing a slight draw. Old thought process of eliminate one side of the course to know my miss. Wasn't playing for any money or tournament so I adjust the driver to 9.5 standard and it was a perfect draw. I didn't get much roll though, so I turned it to 8.5 and Viola! Perfect launch, fantastic carry, and good amount of roll. I averaged about 315 off the tee. Once I adjusted to 9.5 and 8.5 I only missed one of 8 fairways I hit it on. I didn't think the driver was loud as stated above. It has a great feel. I am looking forward to getting some more tweaking in. I am sure as I adjust the weights as I desire it will fantastic. I ordered a new tip to take the shaft out of my old v2. Going to get it adjusted how I like it and then insert the new shaft. Malky 1
The GT is a very interesting driver and i've been dabbling with mine all week. I'm presently working with a 3rd weight and have removed the face angle plate altogether. I have a little less speed than i used to and went with the blue Tensei in stiff but i think i need something with a tiny bit less spin.I'm finding it straight but just trying to eke out all the yards that are in there. Having fun testing though.

halliedog 36
Sorry to bump this thread back up from almost a year ago, but I just discovered these (GT180 and ST180) both in drivers and fairways. I have been playing a '17 M1 for a few years and mostly happy with it. On a lark decided I needed to try one of the new Mizuno 190 models. Read some reviews, and decided not to pay $400-500 on a club that might not preform better than what I have (no one locally has Mizuno wood demos, so would be going in blind). Then along comes the GT180 @ $125 for the head/adapter only and I figure why not. I figured if I was going in blind on the head might as well go in blind on the shaft. Bought an Even Flow White 6.0 70g, and have hit some of the best drives in recent memory! Then figured I might be leaving some distance on the table with spin, so promptly bought a ST180 head to pair up with the Even Flow. The ST180 is definitely lower spinning/launching, but the GT180 produces better feel and results for me as of now (no roll so carry is King!) Being the true ho, decided if I liked the GT180 driver, I'd be stupid to not try the fairway. I now have one of each (GT and ST) in the mail to do live test. GT has a Tensei White 70 and ST has a Tensei Blue 60, so I can swap/experiment, or just buy another Even Flow White to test both heads? Guess the reason for bumping this up is to say, don't sleep on these clubs! I think all in, I have $125 for each driver head, $105 for the new shaft, and $100 for each 3 wd with shaft. That puts me for $555 total as of now, and can sell off the heads that don't make the cut. Edited March 20, 2019 by halliedog
