Justin66
http://jacksonville.com/sports/golf/2010-10-06/story/mcgladrey-classic-notebook-david-duval-nike-part-ways-after-10-years It stinks, but it's also part of the business. Maybe Duval will go sponsorless next year and have an epiphany similar to what Ryan Moore experienced before getting involved with Scratch? Xamilo
He has won nothing in the last few years. He's not a huge public figure either. It was just about time...
jamo
I really hope that whatever he decides on it leads him to get his game back. I really like watching him play well.

Hey Xamilo, good to see you here. Re Duval, it's a bit strange b/c Nike were supposed to have been so 'loyal' to him during his hard times. Loyalty stops when it no longer produces an economical profit unfortunately. The economy isn't at its best yet, costs have to be cut, and those costs which bring no publicity nor money are the ones to be cut off. "Thanks a lot and we wish you the bst" I'm sure if Tiger stopped being popular one day (which would be as impossible as Jordan losing his I think) , Nike would drop him out instantly, even though Nike built its whole golf company with him as corner stone. If Phil was offered three times what he earns now to play Cobra equipment, don't you think he would let Callaway go? In business, loyalty doesn't seem to play a big part most of the times, unfortunately..

IMO if Michelle Wie hadn't have come good when she did, Nike would've lost its patience with her. Heaven knows, they were patient.
Tyk
I guess Nike was just hoping like most of us that Duval would turn it around and finally had to cut bait. When you consider what he's done on the course in the last several years its pretty amazing anyone was willing to pay him to play! lowballhitter
He's got a deal with Iliac for clothing. He loves the headcovers after buying some at Pebble early in season. Not sure if dollars are involved but I hear little or none. I would have to guess there is more than being let out in regard with Nike. Time will tell, it is really nice to see him playing well again. Hope he keeps it up.
