shinton0984 Posted April 16, 2018 Share Posted April 16, 2018 So here I sit after a weekend that we receive anywhere from 14"-20" of snow depending on where you are in the state just wanting to get out and play. I believe last year I had about 4-5 rounds in already as the spring was slightly more willing to cooperate. I JUST WANT TO PLAY!!! Luckily my town has a couple places to play indoors on sims but we all know that's not quite the same as being outside smelling the fresh spring air. So what's the next best thing I guess get on MGS and envy everyone who gets the chance to play and test equipment. I've never posted anything on here till now. So I figured I'd post a greeting and introduce myself a little bit as I sit and stare out the window in misery of all the snow we received. A little background on my golf history, I started playing about 10 years ago(should have started way earlier!) I was talked into playing a round with some buddies of mine who grew up playing. My thoughts on golf were this should be easy, this little ball just sits on the ground and I get to hit it with a flat stick, I would say typical initial thoughts from being a person who excelled playing baseball, up until that day I always thought golf was more of a hobby than a sport. I don't ever remember being so frustrated in my life when it came to performing a physical activity. I've always been blessed with some what of natural athletic ability and talent when it came to all sports I've tried before. After playing my first round of golf I've never wanted to beat something so bad in my life....then golf took over my life. I remember spending hours on the range and putting green more so on the range because lets be honest who doesn't like seeing that perfectly executed shot soar through the air. After lots of trial and err I began to read about the golf swing and the different nuances of equipment then and only then I start to figure out this game a little. After seeing some vast improvement that's when the addiction really started. That's when I had to try all the new equipment, learned about fittings and oh my was I good at scouring eBay for used equipment to try and see what worked for me and what I needed to stay away from. After years of this here I am now sitting just above a 3 handicap still finding my self thinking what if I put this or that shaft in my driver. I even changed my career to work at one of the largest golf retailer, I became the go to fitter and club repair in my area, and love to help people with their equipment questions to improve their game. One thing I love about golf is its very unforgiving and teaches you to take your lumps and move on because there is always the next hole. So I guess that's a little about me, I really enjoy spending hours on MGS reading through the forums. I will leave with one last thought, I JUST WANT TO PLAY!!!
