Ok, question time: How do you fellow lefties that are right eye dominant deal with putting?

 

I've found I can compensate for it a bit on full swings with a small head tilt but I really struggle when I get to the green. The only solution I've found is to pre-line up my putt standing behind it (with a line on the ball) then almost never look at the hole when I'm actually standing over the putt. If I do, I find I instantly lose confidence in that previously chosen line.

I basically do what you do. I've considered getting a right handed putter in the past, just to see what would happen. There are enough people putting cross handed that I wouldn't feel like I had to change my grip, just look at the line differently and let it roll.

 

I might still try it at some point.

One major thing I've noticed is that I see very few lefties who are hardcore brand loyal. We have a large % of lefties in the Detroit area for whatever reason and rarely do I see any sporting just one or two brands in their bag. 

 

 

  

 

Well I'll join the fray. I've only got two brands of sticks in my bag.

 

It amazes me when I get paired up with a group at a course get up to the first tee box and there is always that one guy who says “o you're swinging from the wrong side”, I don't get upset but I think to myself does he see me as a unicorn do people not often play with lefties

I just close my eyes. I honestly never thought being right eye dominant would affect my putting. Does it make a difference?

I've tried it from time to time using my wife's putter, but I just can't get a good control on speed from the right side. Maybe if I was a teenager again I'd put the time & effort into making the switch to putt from that side but found it's just not worth the struggle for me now. 

 

I've considered getting a right handed putter in the past, just to see what would happen.

My issue (i think) is that I wear progressive glasses - so I have a prominent line on my ball - line it up behind the ball like you normally would - and try not to over think what I'm seeing when standing over the ball. I believe the progressive glasses somewhat distort the directional line. 

 

FYI I also putt with my right hand - left hand has very very slight grip on the putter. If I grip too tightly with my left hand or if the left hand hand is prominent in the putting stroke - I'll end up with a strong arc to the swing. 

 

FYI I did try a right hand putter  - terrible results.

That's seems crazy to me. I've heard the large hockey following in Great Lakes states and Canada cited as a reason for a higher percentage of lefty golfers in our land of cold and snow. Makes sense, but I've never seen specific numbers to back that up.

Agree, tried my wife's putter and could barely hold it.

It's true. I'm the only lefty in my family. Friends and work colleagues are all righties. I don't even know of another lefty at my home course. Kor.a.door is the closest one to me, one of these days I'm going to make it over his way and join him for a round.

I can't honestly remember ever having another lefty in my group, now that I think of it. I can't remember the last time I noticed someone else playing lefty, either.

Anyone played in lefty tournaments? There's a Texas Lefty Golf Association (along with US and World lefty associations) that host annual state and national championships. Its a lot of fun but weird since everyone is lefty.

Ok, rant time. With the internet at our disposal these days it's not often I have trouble finding a club I want in LH but I've gone mad trying to find a Cobra 5/6 fairway wood. I started looking for an F7 in November, and even considering buying an F8 but none are to be found anywhere. I've contact every local shop and all the major third party retailers none are to be found. Today I spoke directly with Cobra CS and they admitted they do very-very small orders of LH heads. The absolute soonest they said I could even get my hands on an F8 is early June, which at that point 1/4 of the Michigan golf season is gone. Just disappointing overall, especially when all my local shops are over loaded with heavily marked down righty F7's right now. Probably just going to have to try to make an Epic Heavenwood or something similar fit my needs.

That would be awesome to play in, but my god it would be so weird to see!

One of the reasons I got started in golf so late was because I'm left handed in the 80's and 90's it was rough even finding a left handed catchers mit let alone golf clubs
