STUDque
Rob, ddryan, and I played LP in Dec and I thought it was in really good shape. The course is pretty much CPO at all times but you can tell they've done some major work to it to bring it back to life. Would say it's worth giving it another shot. Marlton used to be my defacto practice facility when I worked in UM. I'd hit it up on my way home before it got dark and maybe play the 10/18 loop. Didn't play the actual course too many times but I remember liking the layout. Only problem I had was there was always bugs flying around everywhere. It's like they built a course on a swamp lol. It's been at least 5 years since I've been up there. Conversely to LP, I feel like Chesapeake Hills is headed in the opposite direction. I hate being that guy to complain about course conditions but overgrown fairways and patchy greens make for a tough round. I think they got hit with those green-eating bugs and just never recovered from it. Pity too because the track is quite a tough test with lots of opportunities to lose your ball That 570y 18th is a heck of a way to finish a round. I played Twin Shields twice and enjoyed it both times. The tight fairway lies ate me up back then but I think I could handle them a little better now. I, too, was sad when they closed up shop. I thought it was very neat how the holes weaved in an out of the old farm as it was like a tour of the land with some golf mixed in. They probably had a tough time attracting players because it's out of the way to get to. Also played Mellowmar a handful of times. Surprised to see MDGH say it's closed because I thought that place was basically self sustaining. That little par 3 course was basically made with a riding mower in a patch of field and was always packed when I went there. Will never forget my first time playing there and a Goat was tied to a tire as your greeter lol. Didn't mean to do a rundown of local courses but there I went! Hadn't heard of Walden before this thread so maybe that's a new one for me to throw on the to do list Sent from carrier pigeon using MyGolfSpy In my Pisa, riding on a 3.5+ G410+ EXS 5W King F7 Hy i500 5-GW Equalizer 56/60 Heppler Ketsch

jb0330
Walden used to be a private course but had to open itself up to public to stay afloat. So I think it's semi-private now lol. I love the course worked there in high school but haven't been back since my game has changed. I haven't been to Chesapeake hills in about a year but when I talked to the grounds keep last time he said they were putting a lot of money into repairing everything. It's definitely not my go to course which is sad because the lay out is awesome.
