My stage 2 is up. It looks good in this format. I'm perplexed as to why it's not as good on my laptop.

But the content and pictures are there.

Great job! Thanks for all the effort you put into it!

I've edited it some more. My laptop really gave me grief trying to get it edited and up.

This really intrigues me. I love the look and description of the LST, but you are seeing quite a few pros opt for the Max. It'll be very interesting as you guys drill down further on this.

I don't have LM numbers but my personal experience from a demo day was that the MAX was equally as far for my SS (105mph) but straighter. I prefer the feel of the weight so far back in the head also, it is interesting how much further back the weight feels compared to my Epic. The whole head in general just feels heavier and it helps me feel when to release. As always though, test for yourself because what feels good to me might feel like hot garbage to you!

Nice job, thorough and straight forward. I had no problems viewing it on PC. Hope you keep enjoying the driver, and get to use it lots!

I have a G coming today and it made me curious if any folks on here moved from the G to the G400, and if you saw any differences???

I moved from the G30 which was the Most Wanted Driver here the year of its release. I hit the G30 as well as or better than the G.

If that means anything.

Also what Jonbrittan describes in terms of performance is exactly what I'm experiencing only I'm getting it at normal guy distances. Heal or toe hits still get out there close to as far as when the ball is flushed.

Honestly the longest driver in my closest (G30, Cleveland Launcher, SLDR, M1) is the SLDR. But that thing produces some unplayable shots off of very small misses.

I hit back to back drives in the heel at Bayou. In both cases I was 20 yards past where I started looking. That forgiveness turned 7 irons into 9 irons. 7 iron out of that rough to rock hard greens is a crap shoot for me. I made two pars rather than par, bogey or worse.

There's some strokes gained for you.

Great job on the Stage 2 rev.... I really like your honesty and how you were forthright in whether or not you would purchase the club.  Looking forward to hearing how things go for you throughout the summer, but it sounds like you found yourself a winner!

Thank you for the reply! I'm going to try the 400 with the shaft that is coming in the G at my next lesson so I will be able to have some head to head results to look at. My second longest drive, ever, was with the G30.

I demo'd the LST during my driver fitting. I also hit the Rogue, Epic, Mizzuno ST-180, and the F8+. I ended up buying the Cobra but I really like the G400 as well. The shaft combo was $300 more than I got the Cobra for so it came down to that. I had comparable numbers with both and hit them on the Screws repeatedly. I actually really liked the Mizuno as well but the spin rate was way high. I've always swung Callaway and expected to buy the Rogue. However I couldn't consistently square it up and it wasn't near as forgiving.

Stage Two - Ping G400 LST review - June 21, first day of summer, 2018by RevKev [attachment=62270:Baptism.JP

Thanks again to Ping and MGS Spy for this opportunity. I will be checking back with you in a few months. Before then I will pick up a heavier shaft and as the summer moves on have the opportunity to play more golf and log many more practice hours. Until then please don't hesitate to hit me up with any questions.

It's crazy that the driver has become my favorite club in the bag. I never thought that would happen. Hope you get the chance to hit one and possibly move it from wishlist to WITB. [emoji1303]

Can I ask one question...

The two on-course GPSd shots you've posted have you hitting drives at 290 yards, but in your review you mention wanting to be able to play a short-drive with the driver for about 200 yards.

Why?

Take this into private messages if you want, it's a question of personal curiosity from my point. If you hit driver that far then 200 yards should be a 4-5 iron which would offer far more control as the ball lands. A cut down driver swing for that range is going to be low, with very low spin and roll a lot. Personally, I don't see the value of that shot when you should be able to drop an iron onto that spot with control.

I'm just interested in whether I'm missing some trick from the game.

Aside from that question, thanks for the write-up and I'm glad you're enjoying the club.

Self taught golfer trying hard to improve his game. Started playing early summer 2016.

Let the reader understand that the scoring is s bit subjective. The clubs that OEMs produce are high quality and all would be in the 90's or high 80's.

I think the value would be in the comments. So far two of us found additional distance, the other - me, did not. We all found more forgiveness and accuracy. That's significant. We all noted a busy crown which would be important as well.

My question to my colleagues is - were you fit for your prior drivers?
