Kwoodfield
Hello all. Sad day today. I have been thinking about posting this for a while. I know people go back and forth on whether or not drivers lose their “Pop†I have been noticing a slight loss in distance over the last few months. I have been for several times for shafts and have all the same shafts in my woods. I was hitting a Taylormade r1 v2 and have been for a few years. Recently I tried two other drivers and noticed significant gains (about 20 yards) from where my ball is. I have been stepping it off and am about -15 yards from where I was used to hitting from at my local course. So in total I'm about +5 yards from where I was hitting my Taylormade driver a few years ago. Well for those who wonder, a driver can lose its pop. I cracked the driver today. So I'm not saying this will always be the case but if you are losing some distance, check your club and make sure there isn't a subtle crack or a crack in the shaft. That can certainly explain it. Nowwwww the more important question, what driver, and why?! GO! “Sometimes the biggest problem is in your head. You've Got to believe.†Jack Nicklaus

Kwoodfield
Russtopherb I was getting the most gains from the rogue. (Just haven't been a callaway guy) I have also tried the GT180 and the m4. I think the rogue looks closed at set up. The GT180 feels great. The blue would take some getting used to. But the adjustability is insane. So much weight movement. Definitely noticeable when you move the weights from toe to heel etc. the Taylormade was ok. Just seems like another twice a year Taylormade. Didn't really see much difference from where I was hitting the v2 before it started losing distance. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
Kwoodfield
And it was a crack right in the middle of the face. After hitting a Drive right in the sweet spot a wretched sound came about. Upon further review, a crack right now the middle of the face was visible. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

JAGolfore
I know when getting fit you have to go in with an open mind if you want what is best for your game. I was against the Taylormade drivers this year and ended up with a M4 because it gave me the best numbers. If it puts the ball in play, who cares what it says on the bottom. MDGolfHacker
Have you contacted TM about the cracked face? They may or may not do something for you. As for a replacement, go out there and try everything you can. Get fitted, find one that fits your eye and go with that. Don't discount a manufacturer - you might be surprised to the distance and accuracy gains you get! MDGolfHacker TSssWhat's In This Lefty's Bag? cnosil
I think there can be 2 Approaches to a fitting. You can be open and willing to put anything in the bag or you can do some limiting and figure out what works best based on you limitations. Those limitations can be brand centric. But if you don't like a particular brand don't try it. Kwoodfield
All, I am in no way discounting the numbers based on brand. Just callaway has always set up closed to my eye and it seems to add swing thoughts to me. I briefly talked to a Taylormade rep and they said no luck! I have access to all the major fitting carts just curious what you guys think and why. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Well said. I used to have favorites and of course OEM's I just did not care for. After going to the PGA Show a few years and hitting everything on Demo Day my eyes were opened as every year some club I did not expect to like really impressed me. Now I go to the show with some pre favorites in mind but am open to every club from every OEM, or at least the clubs that are in my playing ability range. One of the best irons I hit at the show this year was the Lynx Prowler Forged CB's and it was most unexpected. When looking at new clubs always keep an open mind. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Kwoodfield
So with some play coming up and Scotland in the summer, I had to pull the trigger. After much deliberation, I landed on the gt180 and put my shaft from the v2 in it. I'm hoping to be back above 320. Fingers crossed..
