Do you wear long pants all year round like the Pros?

As my name states I am in Ohio and well 5 out of 365 it seems like its Summer and hot. But all joking aside I do wear long pants golfing are year long.

 

What made me think of this question was my old high school football coach used to wear shorts all year round no matter what the weather.

 

The pros wear pants all year long when in tournaments, I understand it definitely looks more "Professional". What are some of your guys thoughts on the more traditional pants when golfing compared to shorts to allow for the warmer weather.

 

I do want to make this point.... I am talking about GOLF PANTS AND GOLF SHORTS. I am not talking about JEANS or CARGO or ATHLETIC shorts.

I used to when I played in college by choice just because I had a stretch where I felt like I played better wearing pants than shorts. I'm a former baseball player so superstitious things like that shouldn't surprise anyone. Currently looking at a possible at getting into the golf industry and that would likely require pants year around.

I prefer to wear pants and I have some really lightweight pants, but once temperatures reach the upper 70s (especially when the humidity starts rising) I switch over to shorts.

I am a sweating beast so I wear shorts when I can. 

 

I can't wear cotton on the course. It's a bad scene.

 

That said, golf pants today are so thin I would likely stay pretty cool.

Yea I once work pants in 110 degree weather. Granted golf pants are way easier to stay cool in than baseball pants.

I'm pretty much an all-pants guy here. While we have hot days in the UP, for the most part, wearing pants isn't unbearable. Plus, I tend to play a lot of early morning rounds.

 

For me, it's primarily a matter of convenience: in the church office, I mostly wear khakis (or similar) and either polos or button-down shirts. My course apparel and office apparel are more or less interchangeable.

 

I'm also of the opinion that no one needs the misfortune of the sight of my legs.

As soon as the temps get into the 60s shorts are my choice. I'll wear a jacket if if feels cool but definitely shorts.

 

Used to play with a guy that wore shorts all winter even when temps were in the 40s.

I had to do a double take to make sure that Shankster didn't start this thread.  Not sure he's ever worn shorts in his life.... lol

 

I live in New England and wear shorts as soon as I can; being stuck in pants all fall/winter long makes my legs long for some sun....

 

I must say though, just for fun a friend and I wore knickers to play once and those were actually rather comfortable.

I used to always wear shorts, but now I work in a business casual environment and purchased some adidas long pants that can serve on the course and at work. There will be times this summer where they get used for both. I go to the driving range some days at lunch time as well so they serve there also. Over the summer I probably will go to the range before work if it is going to be hot.

 

It used to be I had shorts or jeans but with the breathable fabrics and pants that can cross over from work to golf it makes sense to wear pants when you need to. Easier to go straight out after work also and play a round.

I wear shorts as soon as I can. Dealing with -40 or colder during the winter makes me want to enjoy the sun and heat as much as possible

Pants for me. If I wore shorts, the cart girls would never get around since they would want to hang around me and my sexy legs 😁😂🤣. Pants offer protection against sunburn and thickets when looking for my ball in the woods 😁 also I like the style. I do have golf shorts, but strangely enough only tend to wear them out with friends or dinner, just never in the course.

Shorts when it's warm out. Probably 75+. The humidity in dc area sux in the summer time and since it's not a requirement to wear pants I ditch them.

 

There's some good options in materials out there for pants but I see no need to suffer in the summer time but if anyone wants to wear pants all the power to them

I'll switch to shorts too when it's above 60 or so. Fact is I've already played in 'em once the weekend before last. Don't know enough to understand if they benefit or hinder my game, but they are still "dressy" and I feel good wearing them.

When I teach at TFT, it's in pants. I'm not a pro, but I feel like I should look decent.

 

When I play, I wear shorts above 65 or so.

I prefer to wear pants but once it hits 80 or higher it's shorts for me.

 

I also went back to cotton, casual attire on the course. Old school cotton solid color polos from Timberland and cotton chinos or cargo shorts. I tried the hi-tech fabric golf clothing and it just wasn't for me.

 

I look pretty good in shorts though

I wear a knee brace and it's pretty hard to get under my tight pants, so shorts pretty all the time.

I do wear pants year round. Mostly because I didn't feel as comfortable in shorts due to weight. Just couldn't find a pair I liked the fit. Now that I'm getting smaller I hope to find a few pairs to play in this summer. I'll prolly stick with pants overall but it would be nice when I go to Texas to have some shorts to play in

I wear shorts more often than pants I think I may have worn pants 1 time since beginning of last year. It's hot in Florida.

Not if I can keep from it.  I only wear long pants if it's not going to warm up to 60-65*  I live in Central Florida where we wear shorts on the course year 'round.  About 30-40 years ago I wore long pants when golfing, but I lived in North Louisiana where it got cold in the winter.
