No offense intended, but sorry bruh - it's like conspiracy theories, just because you believe it to be true doesn't make it reality. And unless you're able to produce some viable evidence of it being factual, then all you're doing is suggesting you're a big dummy.

You do realize that a lot of the hardest tracks are private right?

This coming from someone who has been a member of both private and non.

Fyi I keep my handicap at all the courses I play. Mostly in tournament rounds for that matter

I'll match up a tourney 5 handicap against a regular 2 all day, every day.

 

Are some courses underrated or overrated sometimes? Absolutely! But if so, it usually isn't by much. And it usually means the tees aren't in the right places.

I've been trying to stay out of this, but ok...I'll bite.

 

Which courses are rated easy and which courses are rated hard?  If the course rating system is broken then you can't have it both ways.  Is it only home courses are messed up and that is why handicaps don't travel?  Or courses with wide fairways are broken?  Easy pin placements on the day slope is rated make some courses too easy?  OK, which ones?  One day was windy and one day wasn't?  

 

Honestly I have no idea what point you are trying to make other than playing devils advocate and trying to create drama in a thread for no apparent reason.

I will post again my observation is that wind is the most significant factor when examining course rating and slope.

For example a course I used to play often had a 74.5 rating and 136 slope. For morning play these numbers were too high, resulting in relatively low handicaps for the morning play regulars.

However, when played during the afternoon, more often than not the conditions were windy and the course deserved its high number rating/slope.

The rating comes from ordinary course set up and conditions. If your course hosts a PGA tour event it will play tougher for that event than normal almost certainly. If your course hosts a US Open it will play crazy tougher.

 

And now we will hear from everyone who thinks they will play better in fast firm conditions, thick rough, with rock hard greens running 12.
