volvik vivid xt

I have a buddy whose birthday is coming up and he's half blind so he plays volvik vivid balls.  Has anyone played the new XT version?  His swing speed is 100+ and I'm not sure if the XT would be better for him than the vivid.

 

If you are "visually challenged" but don't wear eyeglasses are there any 'vibrant' golf balls like the volvik that you use?

My buddy played them during our last outing. He hits the ball a mile and liked these. I tried one, anticipating it to be rock hard, and I was absolutely... correct. Let's just say I wouldn't let him hit my driver with one of these balls for fear of him blowing up the forged face on my G400. He found them to be cheaper on Amazon, so you might want to try checking there StrokerAce

My eyes aren't great, and I have some color-blindness. I often have to rely on my playing partners to help track shots. The Wilson Duo Soft Optix in orange stands out against the sky or grass better for me than any ball I've played. They come in several colors and have the matte finish like the Volviks, but don't feel like rocks and are around $20/doz.

You guys see the latest color lineup for these balls? I can't imagine any scenario where playing a black ball would be a good idea. MAYBE if you're trying to make the game even harder and punish yourself for missing fairways and greens.

A black golf ball??  is that a joke?  do you need the DBM black irons to use with it ??

 

who, in their right mind at this company thought a black golf ball would be viable?  Do they even test these things?!?

 

i get that black is the 'hip' color now in golf - irons, shafts, etc. - but a ball ??!?!?  c'mon man.

Before you jump on Volvik for making a black golf ball. It is t a new idea. A few years ago I believe Nike made a black golf ball, and if My memory is correct a guy named Tiger played them on tour. So... I didn't think they were back then, and still don't, but saying things like it's a joke, or who i their right mind at this company is a fair statement considering a pretty large company used them a few years ago.

 

I just looked it up, and yes Tiger used the Nike one Black in the FBR open. It was a black golf ball.

I bought a few single Volvik Vivid balls to try them out because I liked the matte finish. But I didn't like them. Aside from losing them in less than 3 holes they never felt right off my clubs.
