PutterLove1992
Hello my fellow spys and friends, I plan on treating myself to a Scotty, Bettinardi or something that is a bit more expensive than I'd ever imagine spending I'm only 25 so I really shouldn't buy one with other priorities but I want to save up and purchase something nice... anyone with either kind of putter or something else please give me any feedback you can and some info on the brands. I know I use my putter probably more than any other club so it's my favorite... Thanks my friends and hope to hear good things! cnosil
Scotty's and Bettinardi's are nice putters and there is nothing wrong with them just as there is nothing wrong with most any other manufacturers putters. What are you trying to achieve with this purchase? Better putting, just a high end putter, or something else? PutterLove1992
Just to treat myself to a nice expensive putter.. My chipping/putting is the best part of my game play so after buying multiple 100-200 dollar or pre owned putters and selling them I just want to buy something I will appreciate and use for years to come I'm still young so it'll be around for a while. cnosil
If that is your goal then you will be fine with either brand both have that high end putter perception. Kor.A.Door
I'm Not A big Scotty fan. I use a Betty and love it. You will most likely find way more Scotty users than Betty users. So you have to ask, “do I want to use the same thing everyone uses Or do you want to be different and use something better. Go for Bettinardi !! Kor.A.Door
On another note, check out the Carbon putter website. Very nice putters that can be customized a little bit, and not much more expensive than what you are looking at. Peaksy68
If you're planning on spending good $ on a putter, at the very least try out the Ping putter app before you do. It should help narrow the field. Preferably have a hit before you buy. Lots of good information in the putter review threads. I used to have a Scotty, and to be honest it was good, well made putter but didn't suit me overly well. I see lots of Scotty's, and lots of people who don't putt that well with them. I'd look at any brand and style that fits your budget and stroke, don't just limit yourself to 2 brands, you might find something that works better, is a bit rarer, and may also have a bit more wow factor. Jmikecpa
I have more putters than I can count and have a bunch of customs from Scotty and Betti. For me it is a toss up between the two and can't make a bad choice. Also take a look at the Toulon Garage putters. Lots of cool options and the price is not terrible for a custom. I ordered a custom Long Island a few months back and it is a nice stick and one hell of a presentation when it arrives. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. djahubes
I'm loving the EVNROLL ER2. The MLA is also a good flat stick. Treat yourself to a fitting and come away with something that fits your stroke. KevinE
I dabbled for a year with the Bettinardi, Kuchar style arm lock. The putter it self was first class. The puttee was not. I picked up the arm lock style, fairly quickly, with some mild success. Then smelly things hit the fan. I struggled mightily at the beginning of this season. April for us Northeasterners. I went back to a 25 year old anser style putter, I had used for years. Things improved tremendously. After reading a lot about putters on Golf Spy and other golf publications. I came to a fork in the road. Expensive or not too expensive I am not endorsing any product for fame or fortune. I took a less expensive route. I tried and bought a Cleveland Huntington Beach 1 putter, 35 ". I absolutely love it. Its face is quality milled. Has a great feel with a medium sized grip. I'm a ;little anal, but it has a great click, when struck correctly. I love a great click!!!!!!! I picked this putter up for $99 at Golfer's Warehouse, and it has been my best $99 , I've spent this year. kingcscott
My EvnRoll is as premium as most anything else I have played. It doesn't have the same mystique as a Scotty but it rolls the ball so true. You can tell by the build and look it is quality as well as the head over being a fantastically crafted piece. CFrazier
Get Fit First! Go to club champion or someplace like that and get a professional fitting. Then, based on that, go buy the putter of your dreams.... I finally got fit yesterday and it changed my whole outlook on putting. Find out if your a radial or linear putter, where you strike the ball, your stroke path, your angle of impact, grip weighting, MOI, etc. Its really eye opening.... Good Luck and Happy Shopping!! goaliewales14
Honestly the best thing you can do is to go roll them. I was in the same boat as you last fall. I wanted to upgrade my Ghost Spider S putter to a higher end putter. I of course went straight to Scotty. I was really looking hard at the Futura 7M. As I was trying different putters at a pro shop that I always visit, one of the guys told me to pay attention to the sound as the ball comes off the face. You could here the skips on longer putts that leads to inconsistency. I went through Odyssey, Toulon, Betty, TM, and finally Ping. I ultimately narrowed it down to Ping Oslo and Futura 7M. The Ping just rolled so much better of the face! I found that Scotty's seem to feel extremely soft leading to distance issues. The Ping also just lined up so nice to my eye. I was sold and to throw a cherry on top, they guys said let's take a stealth and make your putter a 1 of 1. Enjoy!!
