Hey guys, I am new to the my golf spy forum. I have been researching clubs for the past few months which led me here. I have been really impressed with the data driven philosophy of this web site! With all that said, I am looking at purchasing new clubs this year. What are your thoughts on the AP3s, AP2s, P790s, P770s, and the M3 Irons? Are there other irons I ought to look at? I am a mid handicapper but strike my irons pretty well. I currently play Titleist 704 CBs. Any thoughts?

Strongly suggest going to a big box store - of there's one reasonably near you - and test/demo as many of those as you can. Bring in your own, eg., 7i for comparison.

Of those irons listed, I would be most interested in the Titleist AP3's but that is based on visual appeal in the pictures. I have never even seen them in person.

 

Idaho reminds me of a time I flew there for a consulting job and they furnished a car. It was the guy's wife's car and she was out of town so instead of paying for me to rent a Toyota Camry, he loaned me a Toyota Camry.

 

I was driving to the site the next morning and got pulled over for speeding. While looking for the insurance card, a plastic bag with a greenish brown leafy substance fell into my lap and then the floor. The cop said "What was that?"

 

My first thought was "RUN!" Of course there were miles of corn fields and then mountains. I said, "I have no idea and I would just as soon not find out." I explained the situation, still not moving until he told me to. Of course, I could not even think of the guys last name who owned the car, and didn't remember what town he lived in. I told him that I had been calling it "Pork's Butt Idaho, but couldn't recall the real name." (Pocatello, ID) All I had to go on was an address in my phone GPS of where we were to meet, which was literally in the middle of some of those corn fields.

 

Things were not going well for me, because I knew that I was responsible for whatever it was in the car.

 

At his behest, I picked up the bag, and it turned out to be a sealed bag with the dried out remains Mistletoe that I later found out was 8 years old and had been in the glove box of her previous car.

 

Of course, the car turned out to be registered in her maiden name, which didn't matter because I didn't even know his last name. I just knew his boss's name, Eventually, I was set free with no ticket, and the cop had a great laugh at my expense because I was either the stupidest car thief or telling the truth.

 

I've been to Idaho since, but never borrowed another car.
