You boys will never believe what came in the mail today!!!   Thanks @JohnSmalls for putting it all on.     Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app

How many times have you read on this site, "The key to scoring is to first keep it in play." or something to that effect?  (Okay, put your hands down and continue to read.)   First, I went to the do

Got thunder-stormed out last night, but played hooky this afternoon and took advantage of the extra time and great weather to pull this challenge off! Wound up hitting a track called Boise Ranch and p

So today will be the day. I'm taking the challenge and will play my front 9 with a rock of some flavor. I'm actually kind of dreading it because me and the guys I play with always gamble. (doesn't everyone?)

But since I was the guy that instigated this challenge I'll stick to it. But if I lose any money from playing the Rock I'm coming after someone. Mr. Smalls. LOL

Who knows... maybe I'll win the Challenge and snatch the Million Dollar payoff. !!

Hat tip to Smalls for making this fun.  :)

I'm glad I did this yesterday instead of today. Played the same course, same everything but with my regular game ball. Also, I played 3 other guys from these tees. 2 normally play these, but the third guy, who hits it as far as I normally did before the injury, also moved up "so we could all play together". I allowed myself to think I needed to hit the ball farther and did not have the same tempo as yesterday and played like crap.

My putter was on fire and sank 10 15-20' putts and turned my 94 or worse into an 84.

I hate to admit it but I didn't do the challenge yesterday. I forgot getting started and remembered on about the third hole or something. I got off to rocky start yesterday going two down through 3 holes. At that time when I remembered I decided to blow it off for the day and focus on playing golf and not getting my a$$ whipped.

For what it's worth I did recover shooting a 76 and only losing $4.50. Could I have done that with a rock? Don't know... but maybe.

For the first time since I can remember, I set off without a Top Flite in my bag.  In fact, I only had 1 ball that would be considered a rock and I was thinking of the horror of buying a sleeve of XLs for the challenge.  Lo and behold,  I found 6 or 7 rocks on the course this weekend.  Now with a bag full of old Pinnacle Gold's and Nitros I am ready to jump into the fray!

I found 5 brand new Pro V1's and V1x's during my full round on Friday, most of them while playing the Hard Rock Challenge. I wanted to swap out these balls so badly, especially on the green, but I did not. I did change over on the back 9.

Of course, the ball did not really effect my play that much. Sure, I would may been a bit closer to the pin, but since I didn't make a putt longer than 3' it didn't matter.

Challenge accepted. I added to the difficulty by not washing my Callway HX Hot for the entire round. If you are gonna play a crap ball it might as well look like crap!

That's a pretty solid day of punishment!  What was your front/back split and are you still playing to your posted handicap?

+3 front nine and +1 coming in. The +3 wasn't even the balls fault. I made a double on a par 5 that was just dumb decision making on my part and then getting frustrated and wasting a shot or two.

Short game shots were really frustrating with the rock ball. I'm used to a tour ball check up so I was picking my landing spots based on that so I ran a lot of chips and pitches 12-15 feet by.

I know what you mean, it definitely takes an adjustment going from high spin to none.  Is your front 9 or back 9 par 35?

Wait until you go back to a more spinny, softer ball after getting used to the rocks. I was short on everything this evening for the first 6 holes of our league. I could not convince myself to hit the ball harder. Would have been nice if I had gotten there early enough to hit the practice green. As it was, I pretty much went from car to tee.

What is this soft and spinny witchcraft that you speak of?

Only 2 days left to get in on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Well, perhaps it's not really a once in a life time opportunity, but the end of the month draweth nigh.

"Official" Rules:

- Two winners chosen, one with the lowest gross score and one with the lowest net score (handicap counted), rounds posted in this thread

-Your best 9 hole score counts.

-Your 9 hole round MUST include at least one par 5 and one par 3

- You must play with a golf ball made of the finest rock variety available (see list below) *we need photos of that surlyn covered rock!

- Hard Rock tournament rounds take place from 6/1- 6/31, to account for weather/work/etc.

- Have fun!

My mistake, apparently someone has a calendar with 31 days in June so, perhaps this goes through Sunday.
