Kanoito
I here you, but you all should be aware, the most recent testing Precision Pro NX7 was open to International, and there wasn't one International entry that met the basic requirements. So while we will continue to keep them in mind when the OEM opens it to International, the chances of it being all international are pretty slim. Just my current .02, not an official declaration. yungkory
Greetings gang ... I want to place this thread up here so we can clarify a few things about our Community Forum Review program, particularly when it comes to international testing. We sincerely wish every review opportunity could be open to the entire planet, but often the OEM's have separate and individual divisions around the world, and one marketing department has different plans and goals from another. For example - Wilson Golf in North America ISN'T Wilson Golf UK, which ISN'T Wilson Golf Germany. Even though it's essentially the same company, they have their own sandbox in which they play, with their own goals and marketing programs. We wish it were different, but alas, it's not our call. Some have complained that we ignore the rest of the planet, which isn't really accurate. We've had several worldwide review opportunities over the past few years, ranging from PING to Bettinardi to ShotScope to ACCRA to many others, and we'll have more in the coming weeks. Lastly, and this one's kind of important - applying isn't the same thing as chosen, and entering doesn't mean you will be chosen. We'll get well over 1,000 applicants for the Mizuno driver review opportunity, for example, with only 4 drivers available, so....do the math! Thanks for being a loyal reader and I very much hope you'll keep reading. We firmly believe - and I'm confident many of you will agree - there's more to MGS than just a .004% chance of being chosen to test a driver. a neat thing might be to have an "international only" / "non-US" testing opportunity. that way the overseas guys & gals don't feel cheated and we get some different - and maybe unique - testing results here in the US. Just an idea. Then the people in the US would just complain. You can't satisfy everyone, and that's not MGS' job. I agree with you, but do you know how many people in the US would whine and complain. e.g There is no reason to discriminate against people living in the US. I can't get stuff shipped to Hawaii that I'm WILLING TO PAY for, that's a real complaint. Whining that you're not eligible to be selected to be a forum tester, just makes it clear that you're only here for free gear. The fact that this thread had to be made is crazy in itself. There was indeed an Australia tester selected however in the G700 irons, previous to this one. And I know for a fact he's still got a smile on his face. My problem has been I'm too stupid to read the intro properly, and don't see if it's limited. The Precision Pro thread was really obvious that it was an international opportunity, which was great. I don't see any need for international only opportunities, mind you, something like the Cobra Connect Challenge in a Ryder/President's Cup type split could be fun to watch. I imagine the vast majority of forum participants are from the USA. Maybe we can get MGS Stud to mine some data (now there's a challenge) to show where active members are from. Chrisf
Hi As an international 'independent' forum I think you should not be allowing the manufacturers any say in the testing process...otherwise this potentially taints the results, IMHO. While the golfing companies may try to skew the results for their own marketing bias, you could point out that, at least for most of the medium to large manufacturers, they are selling clubs globally, not just the USA. Golf is an international sport played around the world and continually for the 12 months of the year. I would challenge you on the number of 'international' tests vs USA (or mainland America) tests. While I appreciate the enormity of the numbers regarding testers vs equipment available the up front rule is the issue...not the fact that for example only 4 clubs are available for 1000 requests...I don't expect to get picked, but I would at least like to have the oppurtunity. If shipping is the issue you could offer testing to international testers with a deal where they would pay for all or part of the shipping cost. As an Australian golfer we play year round in many different conditions and I would have thought getting as many differences into your test data would only improve your results. Please consider you international readers for your testing Regards Chris viking, scott_jamo, Dave73nl and 2 others 2 1

Please consider you international readers for your testing Regards Chris Last year the vast majority of testing opportunities were open to all forum members, sure some were restricted to certain locations, but without going through all the application threads, I think international forum members were probably disproportionately represented in the reviews. The vast majority of regular participants in the forum are from the USA, but there was a significant number of review opportunities available to, and given to non USA members, I should know, I was selected to review the Ping G700 irons. Sure, there were a few things I would have loved to have applied for, but as long as it's clear who can apply (which it is now) it doesn't bother me. I started a thread asking about the possibility of international members paying for shipping, and Barbajo posted a thorough and clear explanation of why that wouldn't necessarily work, as licensing and exclusivity come in to play for some of the company's who submit equipment for review.
