Cahoon Plantation ?

I'll be in Norfolk in a few weeks, how is the Cahoon Plantation? Be a hop skip and a jump for me to go play once or twice while I'm there. Thanks!!

Ok, how about any other recommendations in the Hampton Roads are? I've played Newport News, Kiln Creek, The Hamptons (links, lakes)

 

Anything under $50 that I'm missing out on?

Kiskiack In Williamsburg is nice, Cypress Creek in Smithfield is pretty nice ,  I think I played Cahoon once a couple years ago and it was nice.

Depending on time of day since twilight rates can be obtained you can find lots of courses in that range. Also depends on how far you want to travel and what bridges you need to cross.

 

Look at riverfront, Nansemond river. Cypress creek. and Colonial heritage to your list. I play cypress creek pretty much every week and it is nice.

 

I have never played Cahoon but have heard it is nice. Has bent grass fairways.

Yes. Mostly Bermuda fairways and rough and bent greens.

Do not play the Suffolk city muni. It's in atrocious shape right now. My daughters just played a tournament at Sleepy Hole, and it was looking decent. I've always liked that course.

 

If you'll ride from Norfolk to the Peninsula, you might want to ride out to Southern VA Beach and play Hell's Point.

That is sad about Suffolk; that's where I learned to play. It is a decent layout. Been about 6 weeks since I played sleepy hole; fairways were bad, glad it is improving.

Yeah, the Suffolk situation really is sad. My in-laws live in Windsor, about 15 minutes away. I've always really liked that course, but it's really gone downhill. They've basically lost the greens.

 

Sleepy Hole was still a little rough around the edges (some dead spots in the fairways), but really not bad. Compared to what I've seen from other courses in our area, it's really not bad at all.
