Ever been less than elated after a personal best?

I shot my best ever round of 73 during the 2nd day of my big family tournament and all I could think about was a bladed wedge over the green on 5th hole from about 50 yards that went over the green and cost me at least one stroke. I've never won that tournament in 15 years (it's 100% handicapped and I'm the low shooter playing against some pretty high handicaps) and I knew that if I came in at even or under they would have had to give me the win.

Wow.. You're tough on yourself!

And I'm one of those guys who'd definitely be happy with an 80!

Let me put it in better perspective. It's my home course which I know very well. It"s a little over 6000 yards...short. No sand to contend with. Both par 5's are makeable in 2... one isn't even a legit par 5, IMO... more like a long par 4.

Par for the course is 69. So, when I don't shoot 70 something, I'm not happy...lol.

I'll take mid - low 80's every where else and be quite happy!

Aha, ok makes more sense now!

I play often at a very short 9-hole course, something less than 3,000 yards, though it does have a few challenges ... 3 holes have doglegs, there are a few elevation changes, one blind shot on a Par 3, a few bunkers here and there, one water hazard and several smallish greens that can be tough to hit and hold if your approach is off a bit.

Still working to make at least a nearly-par round there......
