kingcscott Posted June 10, 2018 Share Posted June 10, 2018 I have a friend that is a Demo rep and has let me play a driver for three rounds. It's great and enlightening. But I know there are other clubs and who knows if I'll like them better. I wish there was a service that would allow me to do the same with other clubs. Wouldn't it be nice to try before you buy. And try, I mean actually play with. The new Ben Hogan allowed me to have three irons for a few weeks and play with and advertise. I just want some more options and looks at different things. They had a ridiculous selection of clubs, too. I spent tons of dough there. I wonder if they still do it. Wilson/Staff also had demo irons they would ship out as well, however I don't believe they are offering that any longer. Too bad. I believe it's $75 a year and you have a wide range of irons and drivers. I have not taken advantage of the program as their LH inventory is pretty weak. Righty, decent selection on new equipment. Margins are less than 30% on hard goods and OEMs only want to issue so many demo models per account and won't buy back clubs that have been used. A retailer would need massive buying power to offer such a program and would likely have to deal with a lot of free product just floating out there as people "tried out" clubs. The only avenue that truly makes sense is direct to consumer from a single OEM. Frankly I feel I've abused this policy a bit but I didn't make the rules. Regardless the guys at Golfers Warehouse don't seem to mind the returns.
