What's the cut going to be? +6?

cut line is top 60 and ties.

looks like your right on the number ... bunch of guys around 60 tied at +6.... my guess is that it drops a couple strokes to +4 since the guys now have a good idea how the course is going to play (today probably shouldn't be much diff than yesterday) and they'll know their spots.

I'll say leader after today is at -3 and there will be plenty of big names missing the cut - JDay, Rory, Spieth, etc.

Just a guess :)

The Carnage at Shinnecock has been beautiful. Mike Davis couldn't have asked for the course to play any harder or more challenging. For sure this will help the goal of not embarrassing the best golfer, just identifying them.

Apparently, no one was liking the US Open so they decided to play the British Open today. Wth? It looks like an Open course and now the weather looks like the Open, but still 20* warmer.

And now the rain is here to make the course “easier”. Should be fun.

afternoon tee times are going to get a good break as long as it's not windy.... soft course with the misty rain/humidity in the air means that it should be easier to hold the greens coming in.

cut line could move down to +3....

I got something to say then I'm gonna say it.

I'm going plus 7 for the cut at least. Even if the course plays “easier” it still plays over par for the field - but t could easily reach plus 8.

I think -3 is a good guess. DJ is playing well, all parts of his game are firing.

To me this looks like golf. I grew up across the Sound, I played lots of golf in shifting, tidal winds, rain, elevation changes. I'm loving this and feeling a bit home sick.

Tour Exotics 3 wood is in the bag because we are allowed 14 clubs.  It's a great club for pulling balls out of the water or from bushes - you never want to put your hand into anything in Florida unless you are absolutely certain that it's safe.  There are rare wind conditions when I might hit it off the tee on a few holes that I play.

as bad as things were in 2004 they have done a complete 180 and they are that good in 2018.... course architects and groundskeepers everywhere must be celebrating.

If DJ keeps hitting driver like he's been hitting and bombing the hell out of it giving himself wedges into these greens, he's going to be really hard to beat.  He is by far the best of the tee with the driver.  I wonder what it feels like to hit the ball that far and hit the fairway as much as he does.

This is the kind of Open that I love. A true test of golf on a great links style course. Shinny more then makes up for the horror show that was Chambers Bay a couple of years ago.

The fact that the projected cut line is +6 is blowing my mind, and at the moment there are only 3 players under par.  I mean Rory shot an 80, which means I would most likely be somewhere north of 120.  Ouch!

He is one of only 3 players on the course under par for the day and I think both others are only -1 for the day.   Wish I could have seen his round this morning, but the streaming at work has been spotty at best.   He looks like he could be going into one of the zones again.   But still a lot of golf let.

Just to see the fits it would put on golf fans and writers... could you imagine US Open Champion Ian Poulter, after Master Champion Patrick Reed? I would love it!!!
