tommc23
STU is one of the local builders and collectors we have a few others I hope they can chip in more info. I know Maltby has a class in Ohio on club building and he may have a book too I'm not sure. MattF
Maltby wrote the book on club building and it's available from The Golfworks. I built the hybrids and irons in my signature and it's actually pretty easy. The key is to get everything set before you start and take your time. Arlarson
I started building because I was tired of paying to have my clubs regripped. I bought Ralph Maltby's book and now the only club in my bag that was not built by me is my putter. If you are thinking of buy a club to build I would suggest a club pack from Golfworks. They come with everything you need except for the grip tape and epoxy. Sent from my LGUS992 using MyGolfSpy mobile app

DPattGolf
Yea Ive been looking into doing the same thing (especially for grips), and youtube has a lot on content out there. If your looking to get into re-gripping all you really need is a club vice or a rubber club clamp for a traditional vice. You really don't "need" anything else but some other things that are nice are a tape dispenser, solvent tray and air compressor. A jig so that you can always lineup the club face square every time would be nice to but definitely not required, even for a beginner. Like many others in here, can't suggest doing grips yourself enough. No reason to spend the extra money for someone to just put grips on for you. * Staff Professional* Driver: Stealth Plus+ (7.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Black 6X Tipped 1" 3 Wood: Stealth Plus+ (14.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Blue 7x Tipped 1" Driving Iron: P790 UDI 2 iron - HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 100 6.5 4 Iron: P790 - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (5-7) P7MC - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (8-P) P7MB - KBS C-Taper 130 X Wedges: MG3 Black 50.09 / 55.11 - KBS TOUR FLT 130 X 60* Wedge: High Toe Raw - KBS Tour 130 X Putter: Custom Black ER2 or Custom Black Del Monte Bag: FlexTech Stand Bag Glove: Tour Preferred Glove Ball: TP5X #11 RangeFinder: R1 Smart Rangefinder Instagram: @dpattgolf
NiftyNiblick
I'd love to build golf clubs, but not just matching heads, shafts, and grips. I wish that I could build club heads, in conjunction with a proper engineer, of course. I'm exploding with ideas that will never come to fruition. Sometimes I inflict them on a captive audience here on the forum. Sorry.

sandypar
I, recently have the same itch to repair my own clubs. These repairs included 1. Removing and replacing grips. 2. Removing and replacing Driver adapters. (CALLAWAY AND Taylormade) Since these are the only brands I have. 3. Preping new Graphite shafts for installation. So far, I have bought the following supplies list. 1. New grips (Golf price MCC plus 4) 9.99 amazon. 2. Golf grip kit deluxe 15.99 Amazon 3. Butane torch. 17.99 home depot 4. Epoxy plus two 4oz bottle 17.49 golfworks 5. Callaway optiforce adapters 15.99 EA. Amazon. I've spent 6 hours on YouTube viewing videos instructions of. 1. How to remove a grip using air, or just cut it apart. 2. How to clean and prepare the shaft for a new install. 3. How to remove shaft adapter using wa heat. 4. How to clean and prepare shaft for new install. 5. How to mix epoxy. 6. How to apply epoxy 7. How to clean excess epoxy 8. How to align shaft during installation. I am doing all of this free hand. I dont have any specialized equipment. After a few rounds of practice. I am very confident in performing the above tasks. I dont consider my self very handy, but learning to do these things was not overly difficult. I encourage you to give it a go. You will find much joy in the hobby. MattF
sandy, You may need a shaft puller to remove the adapters, otherwise you stand a very good chance of breaking the old shafts in the adapter if they're graphite. txgolfjunkie
Sometimes you can find dirt cheap used clubs ($5-$10/each) to try new techniques. Before I try out a new epoxy or working with a new torch, I'll try it out on Frankenwedge...which is a tommy armour 845 2-iron (did someone say offset?!?) with a mid iron shaft cut down to wedge length and a putter grip (installed with air).
