2018 Official Forum Member Review - Shot Scope V2

I've had a few minutes to sit down and re-read all the stage one's. I noticed in one of Nunfa0's pictures that the system has three modes: GPS, Pro, and GPS+. What's the difference? Do any of you also happen to have experience with Arccos to be able to compare and contrast?

GPS behaves as a GPS only but doesn't record your shots.

Pro records your shots but gives you mot in game information.

GPS+Track gives you distances on screen AND tracks your shots.

Proud owner of a slowly approaching complete archive of Titleist's blades circa 2000-2014 and a Wilson FatShaft CI10 blade putter in perfect condition (seriously, try Googling it and look at the state of the few that show up) which I bought when at college and just happens to look like it's stamped with my daughter's name, born 14 years after I bought it...

Maybe they are working on a way to give us a mulligan by allowing us to slide back in time and replay the shot as if it had never happened...

maybe it's like 'bullet time' ;)

Continuing to not like this device on many fronts. I know it's working great for the testers.

But for me it's become a $190 or whatever I paid for it paperweigjt.

Too much editing required.

Menus are horrible to navigate. Totally guessing as to what button to push to find a feature.

Tags come off easy. I have lost two tags, well don't know for sure it they are lost. And j secured them very well. Could be at the very bottom of my 14 way cart bag. But who wants to go to to troubke of emptying out a full cart bag and then it upside down to see if they are there.

My thought is because they are midsize grips in a 14 way divider they may be running on the slots on the way out and loosening. So I shouldn't have to deal with this just because I have one of the more popular grip styles around.

And the worst part is the whole joke of having to take a practice swing to activate it. I think someone else hit it when they said. They believe it's the technology in the tag and watch requiring a few extra moments to sync up and they are trying to BS you into it being an activation thing.

I don't take practice swings. Never have and never will. I take a couple waggkes to get my swing path thought correct but not a full swing.

You shouldn't have to change a major portion of your game to get a device to work for you.

it gets a big F from me.

not for me it isn't. I hear you on the issues plus I have a few of my own. It could be a decent product but it's not the 'fire it up and forget about it' system they are claiming...at this stage.

Changed my approach shots as they are too far from pin, plus putting stats show 88% are short!!! :( never up never in, explains my average 37 putts.

Combined this stat info with a samm putt lesson and I expect now to be getting better, so it has been useful to have this knowledge.

One place where ShotScope is definitely beating Arccos is with short/long on putts. Arccos really needs to add that.

It's definitely a consideration. Good to know they make the midsize grips now.

I do have an iPhone so that's good. I could probably get by with the phone in my pocket.

But you're right on the putting stat. Shotscope does do that well. And I know the putts stat is one thing I hear MDGH mention during rounds with him.

Honestly, I still like mine and find it so much less intrusive and just easier than every other system I've tried.

Today was the first time it's really missed shots. I played with my father caddying and while it picked up every tee and fairway shot, it missed some putts as I was just having the club handed to me and was comfortable enough today to just play my shot, it clearly wasn't having time to pair.

Aside from that, though, it's been really solid for me so far and I had my dad laser targets for me today while I was stood there. The watch and the laser were spot on each other.

Great Stage 2 Nunfa0! I'll be interested to see how the watch band continues to hold up for you, especially as your seasons change into summer.

How far away did you need to keep the watch from your glove to prevent those false button pushes?

Thanks Russ,it was maybe another 2 or 3 millimeters (about a 10th of an inch) so not far at all. I have skinny wrists so I just have to make sure the watch is past the protruding bone to be safe

Oh the band!! That was another area I didn't touch on. While the watch itself is rather large, I have no issue or bothered by it.

But the band is horrible. It's cumbersome to put in and take off. Not impossible. But just tougher than it needs to be

But most importantly if it's the least bit hot or humid out. Be ready for that part of your wrist to be running in sweat. I dont normally sweat a lot. I even rarely wear a glove except for the most eztreme of humid days. But this band just does not provide any comfort at all when it gets hot.

It's the plastic construction I believe that leads to this. I've worn bands by both Garmin and Precision Pro (both made out of rubber) and haven't had any issues.

They need to seriously rethink the design of this band.

Too much editing required.

My thought is because they are midsize grips in a 14 way divider they may be running on the slots on the way out and loosening. So I shouldn't have to deal with this just because I have one of the more popular grip styles around.

I have had a few similar problems, but haven't had near the problems you have had when not taking practice swings (stage 2 will reveal soon).  The thing that puzzles me the most is losing tags.  I've got all of mine clubs riding in an Ogio Silencer.  Let's just say I normally get my money's worth during a round of golf; I thought if anyone would have trouble with tags it would have been me.  Even with the high number of shots during an average round and with the design of my clubs "clipping" in at the bottom of my bag, my tags are all still attached like the first day I installed them.

Personally I like having all of the stats at my finger tips but I can't see how it can shave two shots off your handicap in a year.

It is not the be all and end all that will fix your game.

It's great that it can tell you that you hit 35% of your drives to the right but it can't change your swing to fix that, only you can do that.

First of all, nice review and glad you're enjoying the system.

Just to address the point above, I think the importance and where it might be able to shave those shots off your score is the bare-facedness of the facts.

It's easy, psychologically, for a golfer to see those slices as an "anomaly", but if Shot Scope shows they are statistically significant then there is more impetus to actually attempt to correct them.

More importantly, as you address earlier in your stage 2 is hitting more greens. Again, people can very readily convince themselves that they should hit the ball a certain distance with a certain club, but when you actually have your club averages in front of you and are shown that you are often short of target it can force you to re-evaluate your club selection in a more realistic fashion.

I think there was a recent statistic showing that almost all amateur golfers tend to drop their approach shots short. Being more realistic about your club selection is an easy fix and if you hit 2, 3 or 4 more greens in regulation in a round then you've got a good chance of gaining those two strokes...

Yeah the lost tags are a puzzler. As I mentioned they were all secure when I put them on. It's "only" 2 but being used for less than 6 rounds that seems like at least 1 too many.

I should add here. I'm a big fan of what this system is capable of doing as witnessed by some of the other reviews.  And the three times I reached out to CS I got very prompt replies. It took a couple back and forths to resolve my first issue which was a syncing issue.

The other issue I asked about wanting to see some tutorial videos on how to actually use the system or navigate menus was met with directing me to the FAQ Help section. Not really what I was asking for.  The only video he could direct me to was more an informational video on the benefits of the system.   I really think a how to section could benefit a lot of people.

I take on some of the responsibility. Nun0fa says the menus are incredibly easy to navigate. I find them a complete mess. So maybe it's me.  Looking forward to the other stage 2's to see where maybe I can improve my experience based on their use.

Thanks Jon, I think once I get to summer and can actually practice more I will really see the benefits of the system. On a side note I haven't had the normal winter slide out of my handicap so maybe it's working already...

Yeah, I find this odd too. Maybe you just got a bad batch with smaller than usual screws?

I use a mix of grips throughout my bag depending on the clubs and all of mine are tight.

My grips vary between a regular tour velvet, through MCC+4s with extra wraps to MCC +4 Align midsize with extra wraps and I haven't had a single loose tag yet through 11 rounds and probably a cumulative 20+ hours on the range so far too

The tag thing is a mystery to me too. Rob you did say that you've used another system before. Did it have tags like Shot Scope and are they the same grips?

I had Game Golf two years ago.  Can't recall if I had any lost tags with it, probably not as I didn't get along with it very well.

HA...maybe I'm seeing a trend here, if you look around the room and don't see an idiot, it's probably you  :D

I was just thinking that if you had tags in before it may have stretched the top of the grips and that could cause the tags to fall out.....

Two years ago. Come-on you know full well that would be at least 7 or 8 sets of irons ago

some of mine were raised above the grips and looked precarious. See the stage 1 review pics especially the standard Ping putter grip that the sensor was overhanging the edge causing it to get caught coming in and out the bag- quite annoying - and I had to remember each time and ensure it was still attached before that 3 foot downhill left to right putt for birdie......that I missed ;)

CS assured me the tags would never fall out, so far they havent.
