Nunfa0
Three questions: 1. Any inside info on what the features are going to be? My newsletter email said all will be revealed on September 10. 2. Has anyone noticed that the screw that holds the flap that covers the charge port has rusted? I've only had my watch for about 3 weeks and the tiny screw that holds the part of the flap that is attached to the watch has some rust already. It has been brutally hot and humid so I'm sure my arm had some sweat, but it doesn't seem like the screw should have rusted so quickly. 3. Since the screw is rusted, what should I do about it? Thanks in advance! 1. No I don't know yet but it looks exciting 2. Mine did the same thing ( as shown in my stage 2) but it hasn't affected it or gotten worse. 3. Contact customer support, they will definitely want to know about it. Jon Brittan
Thanks Foz, yes they are easy to change between clubs and I think it is a great device When you've removed them from one set of clubs, did you notice any damage or stretching to the tops of the grips around the hole? Have you tried removing them and then replacing them in the same clubs and, if so, did they go back in as firmly? I'm doing some testing for here shortly and will be using my Shot Scope as part of that test regime, but I'm not sure whether to swap the tags or I was even contemplating just buying a second, using it for the testing and then handing that one on to my father to use after the event. There could be an issue with very old grips though that has rubber hardening or cracking, but any grips even a few years old will be fine Jon Brittan and JohnSmalls 2 Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"
Jon Brittan
I've been swapping drivers around recently and I've had no issues with damage or the tags being loose, the only issue I've had is with my swing 😵😎 Don't swing*, I've discovered this to be "the trick". *Okay, maybe this can't be taken entirely literally. As an average height, athletic person I chased distance through trying to swing the club fast constantly from the moment I started playing golf. I got to the point where my swing shape was quite good and I could feel like I was swinging really hard (choice of word being important here) at the golf ball. I was hitting some fairly decent drives and was sitting into the 270-280 yard mark, but a mishit could be a wild curve with tons of backspin too to kill distance. In the summer I played a multi-day, friendly, golf tournament and there was a lot of drinking one of the nights, with very little sleep. I walked onto the first tee the next morning feeling like I just wanted to get the round over with and if I swung too hard I was going to be sick, so just swung super gently and in what felt like a "limited" swing. It was one of the best rounds I'd played to that point and that was the day, with the super hot summer we'd had and dry fairways, I hit my 385 yard drive, career long for me. While hung over and feeling like I didn't want to swing. I knew what I'd done, but it took a while to re-capture it. Sober again I knew I needed to be smoother than I had been, but was still trying to swing the club at the ball. As of this last weekend I've modified my driver swing to feel like I'm almost casual and really putting no effort into it, like it's a short swing and I'm just making the club go through the arc, but not trying to swing it at all, no effort. Since Saturday I have now driven the green on 4 of my local courses 10 par-4 holes, one with a 3-wood and was an unlucky bounce away from making another. I was 10 yards short of one with a 3-wood, driver would have gone over the top of it, there is one more where I know if I get the shot right I can make it and another where I'm not sure, would require a fortunate bounce but might now be in range. So, I've gone from "trying" to hit my driver and getting reasonable results, to not really trying at all and driving 4 out of 10 par-4s and putting potentially another 4 of them into range meaning there are only two par-4s on that course that require a full approach shot now. So there you have it. Best "training aid" for golf? Get drunk the night before a round. Or this Saturday's round came off the back of a 72-hole charity challenge the day before, so again I went into it not intending to really try. Here's Wednesday's result off the tee on a narrow par-5 into the wind! HardcoreLooper, Nunfa0, JohnSmalls and 1 other 4 Quote Self taught golfer trying hard to improve his game. Sent from my SM-J727VPP using MyGolfSpy mobile app The downside is you're stuck with an Apple product and no-one wants that... 😉 I don't wear Shot Scope away from the course. It's great as a golf device, but off course it's too bulky primarily, the battery isn't good enough to warrant use as a watch around rounds and it's definitely not a fashion accessory. You could wear it to and after a round, but you would never put it on for another reason. MattF 1 Quote Self taught golfer trying hard to improve his game. Started playing early summer 2016. Jon Brittan
New features have now been released, lots of "gamification" to emphasise achievements on-course along with the ability to modify the contents of your bag on your mobile device rather than just from a computer and the requirement to "sign-off" rounds before they are added to your scorecards and averages, so you confirm the round is correct. All looks good. Medals and Leaderboards https://shotscope.com/features/medals/ Medals for your performance, things such as driving distance or "First Birdie", hitting a certain number of greens in regulation etc. A good, fun way to track your achievements and improvement. Medals also have points associated, you will be able to score points towards a leaderboard and compete with your friends or worldwide Shot Scope users. Sign off After reviewing a round you can now confirm you've reviewed everything, there are no missed shots or mis-located shots and you're happy the results are correct before they are added to your history and for purposes of your club averages and performance averages My Bag You can now add and modify clubs from your mobile app, so if you decided to buy a new club from the Pro shop before your round and immediately put it in play, add it to your bag and get it tracked! Altogether a very useful addition in allowing mobile modification of your bag contents (though one you could argue is overdue), a sensible addition in requiring sign-off before modifying playing averages and a fun addition in terms of the medals.Annoyingly, though, the medals can only be "won" from the point of the update onwards, so all of those dry summer driving distances don't count MattF, HardcoreLooper, STUDque and 2 others 5 Quote Self taught golfer trying hard to improve his game. Jon Brittan
This is all excellent stuff Also is has arrived just in time for our spring I will be utterly amazed if I can reproduce some of my summer and recent results now that this feature is available. Still, now I'm slightly happier that what would have been my first ever Hole-in-one lipped out yesterday... A whole day before it would have earned a medal Nunfa0, downlowkey and JohnSmalls 3 Quote Self taught golfer trying hard to improve his game. Started playing early summer 2016. russtopherb
It's nice to see them continuing to add features (even if they should have been there a while ago). One big thing about investing in a platform like this is whether or not the company is going to continue to add, or go stagnant in order to make you upgrade or buy new all over again. Jon Brittan
So, who is going to be the first person to earn themselves some medals? I'm hoping to get to play tomorrow night... I got the update yesterday and you can browse the available medals.Anyone counting up the ones they've already missed out on earning? I shot a 65 on a par-72 on Sunday morning. By a long shot my best ever and I reckon it's a while until I get down there again or even break par... Still, the medal hunt is the kind of thing that will help spur me on in any golfing lulls.
