Bombtech golf?

Check out this thread. Equipment performs different for everyone but so far testing has proven their claims to false for a large majority of golfers and that the design (at least of the original grenade) was widely flawed and vastly overly hyped.

Their owner lies to consumers. Such as made in the USA claims originally then when he was called on it, it was assembled in the USA, then when he was called on that as well he deflected. The heads are made by Deson in China. He also claimed shafts don't matter. He also sold clubs head only but refused to warranty them when they broke because he “didn't know how they were assembled and by whom and what their certifications are”. And he was assembling the preassembled at the time and had not one bit of clubmaking certification. There's a list of things one could go on and on about.

Here's what I'll leave you with. Their heads are decent on center strikes. They're not going to blow anyone else's equipment away and they'll finish behind many in distance categories. Off center strikes, due to the Bulge and roll of the head, the gear effect is horrendous with them. Balls that'd be a Little right with some will be way right with the Bombtech stuff.

All I'll say is caveat emptor. It's your money, and you'll get your stuff, whether it works or not for you will be your story to tell.

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.

I would be very wary of anything from this company. It all seems very late night infomercialish.

Wowza. Didn't know that about him or his company. Unfortunate. In this day of social media, if you own a small business, you can get shutdown in a heartbeat if you lie to consumers. Glad the only thing I bought from them was their wedges (when they were 3 for $99)

I happened to try the original Bombtec Driver but found it no better and in some cases worse than the Callaway I was using. I was very fortunate as Sully did honor the money back guarantee and I did get my money back less shipping costs. Would never believe Sully again.

I have the 3.0 driver and 3 wood. I have 3.0 irons and the wedge set. Love them all. I broke the shaft on my 2.0 driver. Called bombtech and no questions asked they sent me a 3.0 driver free of charge. After buying my initial driver 3 wood set Sully personally called me to see if i was satisfied with my purchase and i was very satisfied. Customer service has been above and beyond fantastic.

Ive got the Bombtech 3-wood and used to have the Grenade wedge set.  The wedges werent bad, Im not sure about the 3-wood though.  I cant seem to hit it very well and now you guys are making me wonder if maybe the club is just bad.  I feel like Im very inconsistent with it and struggle to control my direction with it.  Now you guys are making me thinking maybe the club is just bad.

It's always rubbed me the wrong way that the owner refers to the clubs he sells as "My Clubs" when he doesn't even design them or manufacture them himself. He outsources the design work to 4th year university students and has manufacturing done overseas but he's still marketing the clubs as if they're entirely his.

I bought the 72* ultra lob wedge. I found the shaft to be way too light and soft for me. I normally swing stiff flex.

Also, the grip was poor quality.

I ended up wrong about 8 inches of lead tape on the shaft near the hosel to get the club were I could game it. Full swing would go maybe 75 yards. All my friends couldn't hit it past 40 yards.

I found the sole design to be inadequate. It is very low bounce so you have to put a perfect swing on it to get the club under the ball without digging a trench.

All that to say, the company comes off as less than legitimate. They are not trend setters. I think it's like a frat house that decided to sell golf equipment.

I keep with Maltby clubs I get from golfworks.com for quality, design, and value.

I purchased the driver at one point and had to return it. I requested an x-stiff shaft and what I received was a wet pool noodle instead. Interesting marketing, terrible club.

I guess I will be the devil's advocate here, as I love the irons. I own the 1, 2, and 3 Driving Irons, the 4-PW Iron set and the SW. I have had really good success from the fairway with the Irons. Solid contact and very forgiving. I use the Driving Irons on narrow fairways and longer Par 3s. Until recently, I could not hit Driver off the tee and was using the 1 iron. I finally found a Driver that fit my game. As an aside, I had left my 9 Iron at a driving range, and when I called Bombtech and asked to purchase one, they sent one free. That kind of customer service is hard to find.

I will Devil Advocate as well.  I have the 4-PW irons.

PROS:
1) I am hitting straighter and flubbing less shots.
2) I love the weight of the heads... is helping me keep the club down and under the ball.
3) Customer service was great, received phone call directly to check in before the "return date" was past.

CON:
1) I did lose distance... I was never hitting too far with my irons... but my 7 was good for 150-160 in the past and now i'm at 130-140 for example.   I just had to adjust and club down my distances. I compared with angles of my old irons and they are the same, however it's probably the material it was made with.

Summary: I'm a mediocre at best player usually mid-90s guys... and I did hit my 3 best scores ever since purchasing these irons (85, 86, 89).   I do not own the Drivers or the Woods.  I think if anything, these clubs gave me confidence. Don't know if i'd purchase them again, but the confidence to maybe buy a good set of name brand irons in the future and hope to continue my improvement, and get some of that distance back.

I don't play them and never tried them. But one thing they do well, they market on Instagram. Seems like everytime I get on there, one of the first ad/post I see.

And the 72 deg wedge............ that ought to be fun for some. Wonder if it goes straight up, like if you struggle/can't chip from inside 10 feet off the green -- flop it. 😀

My experience with them was the original driver. My friend had one, he let me hit it, I crushed it close to 300 almost dead straight, so he let me use it when played together for a few rounds and I was hitting the best drives of my life. Finally take the plunge to order it, mine comes (same specs) and I can't hit it to save my life, neither can my buddy or anyone we played with, yet all could still hit his really well. We compared the clubs side by side after a bit, his club head was more closed than mine (he didnt put new shaft or pull and reset or anything like that). Sent pictures to BT they agreed, replaced the driver and it was the same story. I'll admit when I hit the thing, it went far, when I didnt it was bad and it was a 1/18 good hits with the one I ordered

O.K. you guys got me, I knee jerk purchased the 52/56/60 degree wedges off of Instagram I watched, I think GM-Golf do a review on the wedges and he liked them? so I went ahead, I also upgraded from a 1000 year old set of wedges, so they have been great for me, I loved them....... Until

I recently bought a 48 Degree wedge from Sub70 golf and OMFG I do feel like i got subpar wedges from Bombtech(no pun intended... Maybe?) This all being said, when I bought the Bombtech wedges I could not tell the difference between them and a name brand, now that I'm a little better and my swing speed is so much higher than when i bought them, I feel like the shafts are not quite stiff enough to be called stiff IMHO, and the spin numbers have to be pretty low as well, reason I say this, I don't draw a single club in my bag, except these wedges, they draw every time from full swings, I am GUESSING this is from the shafts being not quite as stiff as I like? and a drawing ball is a less spinning ball IIRC.

FYI Rick Shiels did a Youtube Review of the Driver (fist gen IIRC) and he liked it, and said nice things.

I just received the wedge set today and they look nice/ feel pretty good chipping around the house so far. Would love to hear more of your thoughts  on the fit and feel aside from the shafts. I'd also love to hear about the Sub70 experience since they're next on deck in my play-test list.

You've definitely got me worried since I have a 111mph avg driver swing speed and about 85-90mph on my wedges 😆. I should be able to get on a chipping green this weekend and will make sure to get some stats on my 56 and 60 first and then compare them to the BT set with some video.

I recently received the Grenade 3.0 driver and 3-wood to playtest and purchased the black wedge set (yep, Insta got to me😅) . Hoping to get out this weekend and get some concrete data on all the clubs with video for a stand-alone post in the unofficial review thread.

Jury's still out on the Grenade 3.0 driver but I can say this, BT has been super responsive and helpful with the customer support. Shortly after I put in my order for the wedges a different promo code came out than the one I had. I shot off an e-mail and got a response in under 12h crediting me the balance.

I had a separate issue with the 3-wood where the shaft made a horrible splintering/cracking sound on the downswing of a big cut. There's no visible damage on the shaft but I wasn't comfortable playing with it anymore. I sent them an e-mail yesterday about it and they addressed the issue immediately and offered to replace it no questions asked.

Time and some more play will determine if the're any good. I can say this without spoiling anything though--the driver is stupidly loud! I had an older man move a couple bays away at the range!

Honestly, I liked them until i got the Sub 70 wedge in my hands (KBS Tour 120 S) It is so amazing it makes these other wedges feel dumb. I must also add in, Ive never used a "new" wedge besides the Sub 70 and the Bombtech. 80 Yards and in, I like the Bombtech set, I just don't like having to take full swings with them. Will be upgrading all my wedges to Sub 70 in November. (limited edition wedges coming out)

Had a buddy who used these. He swore that they are the best things in the world. Gave the wood a try and it was nothing special. I did lose some distance on them, but was able to seem to hit it straighter. They have a very strong ad campaign going on throughout all social media. I swear I see them every time I log into Instagram. Either way, I have heard mixed reviews on them. I personally did not enjoy them, but does not mean you might. I would  say there are definitely better clubs out there that could be used instead

These clubs are great. Im a casual golfer so you can take my opinion on the quality with a grain of salt. I have swung more expensive clubs and for me the bombtech irons and driver were just as good. The 72° wedge is super fun to flop with. I dont have the woods so cant speak on those. However, the customer service has been ridiculously good and I've been buying from them since 2014. If I have broken a club, they have shipped me a brand new one. Often times the newest model as they typically sell out of their stock very quickly. Overall this is a great company and I'd recommend them 10 times out of 10.

I was using some old taylormade ATV wedges I bought at Play It Again as I only started taking my golf game seriously a few years ago and I rarely played wedges around the green, mostly bump and runs with my 9i or PW. Well as my game improved I thought it would be nice to have new wedges and get that spin everyone was talking about. I looked around and saw the deal for the 3 wedge set plus a discount code so I pulled the trigger thinking what they hell if I don't like them I can return them or just keep them around as practice clubs. It took a while to get used to them but right now my distances are pretty much dialed in and I am definitely getting more spin than the old wedges (though to be fair they were pretty beat up when I bought them). I did bring one to my local Roger Dunn to try out some other name brand wedges in the same loft and bounce and I did not see much difference in spin and distance. I still blade and chunk shots once in a while but it is a blade style wedge. Might be time to consider the cavity back wedges that everyone seems to be coming out with but for sure customer service has been great with BT. The first set I ordered had a nick in the finish so they replaced it right away with a brand new set. A few weeks later I had a deep gouge in the sole of one wedge which I found odd because I hadn't been playing that particular wedge much and I wasn't hitting off bad lies recently but again they still replaced right away. If anything I agree with what most people are saying. The clubs are hit or miss especially for the price you pay but customer service is excellent. Sully knows what he is selling and to whom. These are not your golfaholic, golf gear head, aspiring tour pro clubs. These are clubs for your every man who just needs some clubs to get out and hit some balls after a long day of work.

I totally agree with this post. I purchased a PXG clubs (0211 2021 version) o hit much better the bombtech iron for the weight of the heads and balance. I lost the same distance but I preferer to hit straight than to hit long. Everything is to accommodate to each iron. I use from P-5 and i bought a 4 and 3 hybrid iron (Tour Edge). The driving iron from bombtech is not as good as the irons.
