I knew I'd seen it before, and had to go back to one of my Japanese source sites that I order stuff from sometimes to dabble in the JDM market. They sell for $148 US plus shipping, so not too shabby.

I first saw the Japan Teardrop stuff when I played in the Club Championship (about 8 years ago) against a Japanese gentleman who was gaming Teardrop wedges. I was using Zodias at the time and the grain look was very similar. I did some research and similar to Macgregor/MacTec teardrop had/has a licensing agreement with a Japanese company and the Japanese company can research and/or design their own products.

 

A lot of companies have this licensing agreement in place. Lynx is another.
