tony@CIC
Have we ever done a review of affordable launch monitors that you can take to the driving range? I did a search and couldn't find anything. The LM I borrowed from the Club is a POS sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. For the times it worked I really found it helpful and was thinking about a personal one (vs. heavy duty pro version). FYI all I'm looking for is: club head speed, ball speed, spin. tony@CIC
What brand/model did you borrow? It's a ES14. With only club and ball speed the data is kinda useless. I mean you already know how far the ball goes. Spin and launch will tell where you might be losing distance. I think spin and launch are basic characteristics of ball flight that you need for the data to be useful. Golfspy_CG2
New to Launch Monitors- Can someone compare the Swing Caddie SC200 to the Arccos 360? or is it apples and oranges? ThanksThey are indeed apples and oranges S200 is a portable launch monitor thst you can use on the driving range of course to determine the following. Club Head Speed Ball Speed Smash Factor (the impact quality of the shot) Carry Distance It has other modes where you can set sat a target distance of 125 yards on it. Then hit whatever your 125 club is and it will score how close you came to it. Overall it's main purpose is the identify how far you hit any club you choose. Arccos Caddie 360 is a shot tracking system used to track every shot of your round and at the end give you a thorough analysis of all your stats. It keeps comolilojg them and provides a cumlative data base over time. Many features to it, that you can compare your performance to others on the same hole. It also provides a GPS during the round. Showing you a nap of the hole and the distance left to your green or Target. It's of no use on the driving range or practice. At least none that I have seen. As it's satalite based and reports the distance of a s*** based on your previous location. Hope that helps. When I am on the driving range, I really don't care about spin. My shot is my shot, the distance it goes is really all that matters to me. Spin is something great to know when you are getting fit and comparing between clubs during shopping season, but on a driving range? Meh. I feel the same about launch angle and decent angle. Both important when getting fit, but once you are on the range it isn't like you are going to bend the loft while you are out there. Unless you are Rob, and take 8 sets of irons to the driving range to fit yourself for your swing every day. But he is next level. Yes it gives launch angle and the differences in spin rate for me regarding range balls vs gamers was negligible. The range I used had fairly new Wilson practice balls.
