GolfSpy MPR
From an equipment nerd point of view, this is lots of fun: Peter Finch goes to a thrift store and puts together a set of clubs for £25 (about $33). For those who follow their channels, you've probably seen Peter and Rick Shiels do their second-hand club challenge, but here Peter's spending just a fraction of that amount. After buying the clubs and cleaning them up, he goes to play nine. I won't spoil the ending, but I smiled—a lot. StrokerAce
this was one of my favorite videos he's done so far.... amazing that he was able to find those clubs for 25.00 !! that was a score. I saw a set of r7 TM irons at the Goodwill up the street from me yesterday for around 15 bucks. They're probably still there and I'm very tempted to buy them, just because. But I already have 2 sets of irons. russtopherb
I just finished watching this video after he shared it on Twitter. It was definitely one of his more enjoyable videos, and what a deal! Proof that you can still make your way around the course without the latest and greatest in your bag. RoverRick
In 2007, I flew to Florida to do some consulting and soon found I had several hours a day I could play golf and that I would be returning several times over the summer. I happened upon a tent sale and bought a 5 Wood, a few irons, a wedge, Putter and cheap bag and balls and tees for about $40. Not worth paying to take them on the airplane, so on my way back to the airport, I stopped on the side of the interstate and put them in the woods behind a tree. I returned a few weeks later and stopped at that mile marker and sure enough, my golf clubs were still there. I did this 6 times that year, and to the best of my knowledge those clubs are still on I10 just west of Orlando, but sadly, I have forgotten the mile marker. RoverRick
Those were some nice clubs when they were new and I would still bag that Heaven Wood if I had one. And he just showed what you can do with a good golf swing and some SERIOUSLY GOOD course management. He was not trying to set the World Long Drive record and was taking nice easy swings. BIG STU
Hey I have them beat on price. Remember I work for a metal recycling company and one Saturday I took out a all scrap yard bag TM R-11 Driver TM Stiff Shaft 0.15 V-Steel 5 wood Stock TM Shaft 0.15 Irons 1958 Macgregregor Diamondbacks 2 thru 9 0.15 each PW Hogan Cameo Equalizer 0.15 SW Wilson JP II 0.15 Putter Tommy Armour PGA 0.15 Bag Old Titleist stand free Total investment $1.95 I will admit I have an advantage working for a metal recycling company. Shot 82 with those puppies> I literally threw them out of the back of my truck into a bag and on the course. The driver did have too stiff of a shaft for me and the JP wedge was an offset and I tend to shank offset clubs. After the first couple of holes I resorted to the 2 iron or 5 wood off the tee. Yep I shot 82 with a bag of clubs that I had less in than most folks have in one new Pro V Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee.
