GarField .. New from Holland / Europe

Recommended Posts

Hello.
I am not sure if there are many members from outside the US, but I am. (If I make stupid language mistakes please let me know).

I am 49 and just started playing golf last year. I did in introduction day and really liked it.
Later that year I started to get my handicap (not sure how it works in the US).
In oct. 2017 I made it and got my Handicap 54. Played a few practice rounds on par3 courses.

In april this year I took a membership on a course close to home. I have lessons every 14 days. I do this because I want to practice in between the lessons.
As I need to do one thing at the time and not give me 5 new things because then I get confused. The Pro I had my first lesson told me so many things and after every stroke I got lost and had no idea what to do. So I found a new Pro that fits me much better. She gives me one, or sometimes 2 things in my swing every lesson and from there we can work on. I already improved my handicap to 41.

I play/practise atleast 3 times a week after work now it stays longer light to play. Most days when I play I practice chip shots. Different clubs, different lenght, more or less high grass etc. And some putting exercises.

Then I play mostly 9 or 18 holes with 2 balls. I do have a problem ... I can't hit with a Driver :D. It goes all over the place. But with my iron 6 I can hit around 150 yards so for now only with irons and wedges. I will have driver lessons but only gonna use it when I can hit with them.

Equipment I use .......
I bought a beginnerset. Wilson X31 (2017 model). It has all I need. I bought 2 wilson wedges with them. 60-10 and 52-08.

I don't know what more to tell you :).
Hope things are not to different .... and if so, in the future all will be changed and everything will be the same from US to Europe.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I replaced my putter last month. The standard one I had to HIT the ball instead of swing the club and let it go. Distance control is much better now with the Odyssey White Hot Pro 2.0 Rossie putter. And I added a long thick grip on it.

Great intro and don't worry about the "stupid language mistakes".   They kid me about it all the time and I live here.   :D

Oh, and don't worry about the driver..... This is my 9th season and I still can't hit one well and don't carry one on the course. Keep sharpening your irons and short game!

Yeah they change it every few years I think. This is the latest set.

I love the feel off it. You can feel perfect if you hit it good or bad. But if you don't hit the sweetspot the balls still go forward, not so far.

With a i7 i hit around 130 yards if I hit it right, 100 yards if it's not perfect and everything in between :).

Not perfect but also not 30 yards to left  or right. I played with a TM iron and they went all over the place from a hook left to 40 yards front :). Much harder for me to hit the balls.

Special hard balls you feel in you arms/hands so I use soft balls like wilson dx2, callway supersoft.

Putter I replaced after my first lesson in putting. The ball does not bounce from the putter .. to make long puts you really have to hit the ball. I now have an odessy white hot 2.0 rosie putter now.

Driver/wood/hybride I can't tell you about. I don't use them yet.  i hit a few driver balls but they are all over the place and they don't sound so hard as some other drivers i hear on the DR
