SmoothG
Has there been any real testing on which balls are "straighter"? I know that balls generally can only go as straight as the swing you put on it but there are some mitigating factors with technology. In my experience non-urethane balls appear to curve less off the driver for me. Wilson claims the DUO series are the "straightest and longest", I'm just wondering if there is any real data to back that up? fozcycle 1 Quote Cobra SpeedZone 9* TourEdge EXS 18* TourEdge C721 22*H PXG 0211 DC 6-P + G Cleveland Zipcore Full Face 52/58* Wilson Staff Infinite Michigan Ave Taylormade Tour Response
PlaidJacket
Grain of salt. Most mfg's all make the same claims to one degree or another IMO. Straighter, longer, more spin, faster, less spin, more forgiving, easier hitting, more, less, ultimate, best and on and on and on. You're best test will be for you to go play the DUO of whatever flavor and decide for yourself. fozcycle 1 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
SmoothG
I'd love to see MGS get their testers together, pound a couple thousand balls off the tee and really see what differences there are with different balls and how far away they end up from the center line. Txmason123
I don't know. My thought was that maybe I don't compress the ball enough at impact. I usually hit my driver pretty straight, but I was using Pro V1s and all my drives were slicing. I didn't hit 1 straight shot. I went back to my cheap 2 piece balls and the ball flight went back to straight. It could just be coincidence. fozcycle 1 Quote Mizuno JPX EZ driver Taylormade SLDR HL 3 wood Mizuno JPX EZ hybrids 3 & 4 Mizuno JPX EZ Irons 4-G Titleist SM6 Vokey wedge 54.10 Odyssey White Hot Pro V-line putter

If you hit the ball straight, it should go straight no matter the ball. However, if you slice, it will be more pronounced with a ProV1 vs a two piece. Just the same way if you are a "good player" and can work the ball on command, the ball will move more with a tour level ball. fozcycle 1 Quote Cobra SpeedZone 9* TourEdge EXS 18* TourEdge C721 22*H PXG 0211 DC 6-P + G Cleveland Zipcore Full Face 52/58* Wilson Staff Infinite Michigan Ave Taylormade Tour Response
chisag
... There are certainly balls that spin less causing problems around the green, pitches will run out as well as full mid irons having difficulty holding greens. But they do also spin considerably less off the driver which will not eliminate a slice, but will reduce one. Bridgestone E6 is a good example. cnosil 1 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... sirchunksalot
I like using Wilson's as I'm currently gaming the Staff Fifty Elite. I picked up some used ones at at Walmart because I wanted to try out the Duo's without spending a lot of money. Some of the Elites were mixed in and I seem to hit them long and straight. Could be mental, but they work for me. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

I’ve hit some crazy long tee shots the last couple weeks, some up around 320, swing speed is 105. No wind, rock hard fairway, the ball carries a bit longer with the temps we’ve been having, and the ball rolls for 60 yards. Carry distance about 260. Hole 12 at the course is 525, I had 207 the other day. Don’t put some down about math and such, course conditions play a huge factor in distance on drives. Even for the pros, you see on he sheet the DJ hit one 420, what they don’t say is that it landed at 300 and rolled down a hill another 120 yards. I wouldn’t say that my average is 320 like DJ, its more like 270, but occasionally I hit one really good with the correct conditions and have a really long tee shot. I like to think that the poster who said that is saying that he did hit one 336 and 309, but that’s not his normal, or average. silver & black, JohnSmalls and Bonks 3 Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind
