Ugh...looks like Mother Nature decided to throw down a 105* heat index for my round today.  Good thing I'm gonna show her who's the boss on the course for the first 18 and the 9 hole league round after.  If I don't make it, tell my kids they can have the rest of the brand new 8 dozen Srixon Z*Stars I've been saving for a special occasion....ha ha ha...(I wonder if I can suffer from pre-heat heat stroke?)

Ok testers, without giving away your final thoughts, what has been the hardest thing about this challenge?

 

Dealing with the Samsung S7 and Arccos.  It's not Arccos' fault, but rather a bulky S7 which now heats up even faster as the weeks have gone on.  Even for today's round I plan on playing, I'm seriously trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to get through 18 holes with Arccos running (and that's with a external battery connected to the S7 to add supplemental power).  I literally look like a cyborg when I've been golfing because of the 10,000ma battery and cable coming out of my back pocket wired to the phone in my front pocket.  When I played in the local outing at Swan Point a few weeks ago, Arccos and the S7 only MADE IT THROUGH 11 holes, ELEVEN.  The promise of leaving the phone in the pocket hasn't happened for me.  Funny thing is GolfSpy Rob noted I played better without having to deal with the phone the last 6 holes of that round.  I've got a feeling that I would ranked much higher in the previous challenges if I didn't have to f**k with the d*mn phone every hole.  Am I bitter about it, no as this is why we have member testing and Greg with Arccos has been a phenomenal asset to have.

Thanks!  Yeah, unfortunately, I'll be out in it at the worst time - high noon.  Wore a white golf shirt and ALMOST thought about wearing shorts, but I'll be wearing long pants as I normally do.  I also have a cooling mask that I'll make sure gets dipped in an ice bath every few holes.

Quit ?  There's no I in oh wait, wrong thought...hell no, there's no quit in me.  Vacation last week so no chance to play and sadly, I couldn't honestly throw up a wow shot/hole worthy to compete with Joyzee, Foz and the other guys for the last 6 weeks. But I'm back with a vengeance this week.  Hell hath no fury than a lefty golfer   And since I'm playing in Hell temps today...lol

I'm curious about the use of the Arccos system and if any of you have an idea on how to improve it, mainly options on what to do with your phone. I hear you say that you have it in your shirt pocket, would there be any other way to use it? Ground, armband, clip on holster, etc. I don't know, but having a phone in my pocket and swinging would be kinda awkward.

I think there would be NO better advertising them 5 regular guys ( 7 if you count the Mods) that had a summer to play and track their games. it could possibly prove their own claims of how good these clubs are.. JUST SAYING..

This will probably get answered by the Arccos thread but I think they are making it available on the Apple watch, so that may be a better option 🤔

Phone goes in left front pants pocket for right hand or opposite for those playing from the wrong side.. it took me a couple of rounds and now i don't even notice it..AS for options with the Arccos app. you can analyse Almost every facet of your game.. It has been  a huge asset. the caddie option gives you the best way to play based on YOUR game, it takes your data and makes what it feels is the best choice for you to shoot your lowest scores.. 

 

Gregg From Arccos has been available to all of the testers and Moderators All season to answer question and give advice. I thnk we all have had issues that came up at one point or another that he either talked us through to fix or work around or added it to their list of things to address. Gregg has been a big part of this all the way through.. 

 

the biggest issues i think came from the Android platform namely battery drainage. MD has been the one most effected based on his Phone Galaxy S7 and it's rapid drain. I have a Galaxy S5 and have not had the battery drain issues that MD has had.. the others all are using IPhones, I believe. I don't think any of them have had the battery issues MD has had..

That is really awesome that Arccos dedicated someone to assist and are using this to learn how to improve upon an already great product. I love the idea and will probably pick up an Arccos system later this year. I have to follow the testing on the other thread closely...I am too wrapped up in the CobraConnect challenge right now to dive deep any where else.

Yeah we've gotten to ooo and ahh at their shots, laugh along with them, win some sweet stuff and generally have a great time while they worked their collective backsides off. We're NOT worthy👏👏👏😁😎

Guy I appreciate your support.. As much as i would like to say its all been just golf, i think we all have spent the extra time to make sure we did everything we could to give everyone the most information we could. Stud has told us that Cobra has been following the whole challenge and has loved every minute of this.. I know that for me I was doing everything i could to make this the best test of myself and the clubs I could..

If it's ok, I've got something for the Q&A session that may be able to be answered. I'm crazy about grips. As far as grips go, I'm a tinkerer. This summer, I've had big problems holding onto mine due to the sweltering humidity. The smart grips technology is a fantastic idea and is really only held back by the quality of the Lamkins they decided to use. Now all 5 of you live in areas that saw a lot of rain this summer and at least 3 of you are in humid climates. Here's a shotgun blast of questions:

 

 

 

 

1) How would you say the grips have performed?

 

2) Have you had any slippage in rain or humidity?

 

3) Are they still as tacky as when you got them or are you finding yourself needing to clean them often?

 

4) Finally, how does it feel with the extra bit on the butt where the sensor sits? It extends past the end of the club so it's almost like a pseudo-counterweight.

 

 

I would need midsize smart grips that aren't out yet, but am very intrigued by this offering you guys are working with.

 

1) Grips have been fine. No negatives that spring to mind.

 

2) Rained my last round and i did have a couple of slips, but that's more on me managing the towel for wipe down etc. Would expect the same from most grips. 

 

3) I haven't cleaned them once - in saying that - I am planning to give them a rub down tonight. 

 

I like to clean them in the kitchen sink... The missus LOVES it when i do that  

Warm, soapy water with a cloth/scrubber, then towel dry. Next steps is spray some windex on the grips and rub down with a clean towel. Makes them nice and tacky. 

 

Growing up playing footy, we used to use something called "grippo" on our hands. Was supposed to be used for lawn bowls and golf clubs but i never used it on that. 

If you wanted cray tacky, try Belt grip lol.

 

4) Hasn't put me off at all. 

 

In all honesty, the grips are fine. I got them in a midsize and will adjust them back to regular after the challenge. I hope that cobra teams up with other grip companies and provides different options. I had the Golf Pride CP-2 Pro's on the old clubs and LOVED them. 

 

Ok testers, without giving away your final thoughts, what has been the hardest thing about this challenge?

 

Putting up with you lot! Na.. JK. It's been a lot of work in the background. Write ups, reviews, questions etc. I have loved it, but it has been a lot of work. 

 

Other than that.... It's been a slice!
