Push Cart Mafia - What are you rolling with?

Recommended Posts

Bought 3.5 around Fathers Day. Been great and l8ve it thus far. I do wish the brake lever was positioned like on an earlier model..

This plus the quitting smoking - let us know how much better your rounds are going now!

After years of carrying my bag, the 51 year old shoulders finally over ruled the ego and I got a push cart. After reading this and other threads, spending what I'm sure the store clerk thought was hours in an Austads folding and unfolding and taking folded carts out to try in the trunk of my car... I settled on the four wheeled Bag Boy.

IMG_0450.JPG

Reason 1 - it has to fold up small enough to sit on top of my clubs in the trunk

Reason 2 - my home course has lots of hills and the four wheelers seem to stay in place better on the side hills.

Reason 3 - I like the pouch underneath the handle to hold my range finder, glove etc...

Reason 4 - and don't underestimate this - they make a nice carry bag - or as I call it, the grass clipping bag. When you play in the mornings your wheels will collect a lot. I dump the dried grass the next time I play when I take it out.

I rode exclusively toward the end of my playing days,

a couple of little par 3 courses excepted,

but when I walked,

the push cart would have been totally counter-intuitive to me.

Pushing seems more like a supermarket thing, not a golf thing.

Why did they replace the tried and true pull carts?

I had no problem with them.

Mine is about 45 yeas old and could still go if it had to.

Pulling, in Theory is worse on your back and shoulders than pushing. Pulling focuses strain on the back and shoulder while pushing spreads the force all around your body.

I did a lot of looking for the best all around push cart and I ultimately went with the Clicgear Model 3.5+. Easy to use, compact, built sturdy, multiple accessory attachments, and comes in a variety of colors! What more could you ask for..

As for the bag I'm using the 2017 Players 5 Stand Bag. Its nice, light weight, clean look, and perfect size to hold any extras needed on the course.

I like mine. Got it for $99 from Budget Golf a few months ago. At that price might need to pick one up for my wife.

And I’m partial to my no name 29 dollar fold up pull cart with removable wheels. It’s light and I can leave the frame on the bag in the trunk.

I really wish more people walked around here...most courses aren’t walker friendly....too far between greens and tee boxes plus it’s 110+ heat index in the summer!
I had a clic gear 3.5+ and sold it after only using it a few times.

I've got a caddytek 4 wheel that I really like. However, I only use it in the fall or spring when it's cooler or less humid.

I've read everyone's responses here, and it looks like the Clicgear 3.5 and the Caddy TeK are the two I'll start looking at. I have no plans on getting a different bag at this time, so anyone else using a big cart bag like my PING DLX? Seems the consensus here for bags like mine leans toward the 3.5...

Depends..... Do you want to go as light as possible overall, or do you want the organization of a cart bag?

I have a relatively lightweight cart bag, at about 4.75 lbs. I'll sacrifice the extra pound or so to get the extra divider top and separator sleeves. Plus I like the clubs arranged a certain way whether I'm walking or (forced to be) riding.

I'm ll about the organization, and am not too hung up on the weight of what I got. I'm simply starting to look for the best cart to haul it around on and one that will survive.
