In the spirit of my favorite Major of the year. Out of the active venues for The Open, which has been your favorite to watch over the years?

Been to one?

Me personally: I am looking forward to Royal St George in 2020 and Royal Lytham & St Anne's when they get the nod again.

I recently (2014) got back into golf, so I missed about 8 years of watching golf.

Trying to get my kids on the tradition of watching the Majors. They loved The Masters, hopefully feel the same about The Open.

I love watching St.Andrews. The Old Course just has such amazing history. It is just taking golf back to the simplest time in golf. It also seems to be the most exciting down the stretch.

The one with the postage stamp green that's a flip wedge in for the pros.  Watching them try and get out of that bunker was must see TV.  And frankly, if I ever design a golf course, all of my bunkers will be like that, where if you get in it, your only option is to hit it out backwards or sideways.  After all, a bunker is a hazard and should come with a penalty.

As I tell my daughter who has s always asked me questions like this one, as I get older I've stopped dealing with absolutes in anything other than theology.

So none of them are my favorite - I like all of them, each has a character that I look forward to and enjoy.

I did not like last years US Open course - disaster comes to mind - but generally I enjoy all the US Open and PGA venues.

I love Augusta of course.

Royal Troon and Turnberry for me, some great holes and excellent vantage points for spectators. St Andrews has to be the worst (for spectating) 9 out and 9 back and you can only watch from the periphery of the course due to its layout.

For me it is St Andrews and then Carnoustie. Actually I like all the courses in the Open rotation for me that is the way Golf is meant to be played.

As far as over here me being Southern born and bred it is of course Augusta.

BTW Rev I totally agree with you on your first paragraph--- The ONLY absolute is theology as it is stated in the Bible

So, I really like Birkdale but the top of the list has to be St. Andrews.

I really do like St. Andrews, obviously the home of golf and everything. But every 5 years? Kind of wears it out a bit.

From a viewing perspective I do agree on that Shanks, but as Sixcat said, due to bigger factors it's tough to not have it #1. I know most of the courses off the rota aren't long enough anymore, but I would love to see them go back to Royal Cinque Ports, but as it's so close to Royal St. Georges it seems unlikely.

Heck yeah. And pick Prestwick up, and Porthcawl.

I'm sure there are a bunch of sleepers too.

I can't wait to see the Open at Royal Portrush. I may literally take vacation and do the “up at 1:30am” thing for that one.

Yes! Me too, when it goes back to Royal Lytham I might take a real vacation to go see it in person. Since you know, my favorite player Seve won twice there.
